We have 9 games in one month. We have to rotate else I’ll squad will be burnt out for the second half of the season - physical and mental fatigue will kick in which then increase risk of actual injury.
I was amazed we didn't buy someone in summer as i felt matips ankle was dodgy but these have been muscular injuries thus far. you are right about klavan. The worry for me is mainly around Set pieces not general play (i think) this weekend as everyone is saying brighton will just defend like mad. If we are given the ball to play with i think it doesn't really matter.
I also think that tactic isn't really working out at the moment (across the league, not just with us). Apart from Spurs in recent weeks, the winner is coming in the end. Too much quality around (or diving gooners)
Imo we should.flay Flanagan at rcb I think hed be ace if we need a cb.. lovren has been injured 3 times. He is never ever getting through this month without an issue. In fact I think flanno should play in cl. gets it done klopp.
Think may see Gomez & Klavan with TAA RB due to Lovren struggling to play 2 in 3 days though quite what happens in the following weeks god knows.
The problem is if Gomez ends up having to cover at CB then TAA covers RB, and the teenager has already shown his limitations in that position. Clyne isn't back for a while, his injury has been a problem for us in the first half of the season
I suppose that's the silver lining. The next couple of weeks will be crucial. We have an important match in the CL we have to something out of. There is no question of relaxing because we only need a point. Concede the first goal, we could get nervy and the defence could crumble. And there are our error prone GK and players.
I don't think Gomez is all that great in that position either, tbh. He's a CB. Whatever we do is makeshift, but with Gomez in his natural position I think we'd be able to reorganise better.
problem is that the evidence suggests that either there are fitness worries about playing them 2 a week or Klopp thinks that mentally they will struggle. This seems particularly the situation with TAA.
I dunno - we'll have to see. Personally I'd put Gomez in there if we're short of a CB. Bring Trent in and, now this is a long shot, try to get the midfield to cover him a bit more. All our midfield think they're auxiliary strikers and are all over the place. The only one with the discipline to hang back at all is Hendo, and he isn't actually a lot of good there because he's afraid to tackle.
Can see Milner covering RB (seems more obvious than LB ) if we do that or more radically go to 3 at the back & use Can there
Interesting line up. Can at Cb, expecting to have lots of the ball. Gini hendo and Milner is a solid midfield, not much creativity there though. Relient on front 3
