Endless talk today about Rooneys goal, don't get it. Beckham, Alonso, Suarez have all done it, its just a bit of a hopeful punt taking advantage of the poor keeper position.

Just like every other goal from your own half then......poor keeper position.

 

I'm of the other Scouse variety. However, I'm also a scientist. I would never have gone to SFX, though

Not exactly. You don't expect a keeper to be rooted to his line when the ball's in the other half of the field.
It's just a bit of opportunism. It doesn't always come off, but seems to more often than people would have you think.

 

Saw it earlier when we were at the pub. I genuinely don't know what the ****ing fuss is about. the keeper was a mile off his line

 

Should be common, i mean Rooney managed it FFS!

 

The reaction is more about the technique than him scoring from his own half. He didn't side foot / place it, he put his laces through it cutting across the ball in the process.

Still not as great as the media made out but still very good.

 

The elimination of the 11+ happened years before the Catholic authorities took the grammar status away from schools, there wasn't a link between the two events. I remember taking a form home, at the appropriate time, that my parents had to fill in, choosing [I think] either 5 or 6 schools from the list supplied, in order of preference. Some time later the reply came indicating the school that I was going to.

The fact remains that tobes went to one of the best schools in Liverpool in one of the best areas. Whether it was grammar or comprehensive made no difference to his education. I was just pointing out the change because a lot people aren't aware and I thought they might be interested. The Blue Coat topped both the list of best Comprehensive in the country and best school in the country for years. Those who went there aren't bothered they went to a comprehensive.

 

I thought it was a nice little video, showing how inclusive a group can be and raising money to buy kits for kids added an extra layer of care. Thanks for posting it tobes
