Nothing worse than playing with undisciplined players, used to captain a hockey team and all it does is add a load of unnecessary **** for you to think about as well as playing your own game

Also nothing worse than players with ideas and egos above their stations who come to the club thinking they should be 1st/2nd team and adamant and stubborn about it, so they get a go and they're nowhere near ... embarassing for them and even more hassle for you

TBH not sure they've come with the idea they'd be 1st teamers just that their point of contact happens to be the 1st team cpt. Our 1s cpt this year is a Medical student, so plays on Wednesday in the Uni leagues as well and obviously knows alot of other Hockey playing medics. In fact our club has a strong (unofficial) affiliation with Sheffield Uni Medicine and it has served us well in the past.

But this is the fist year our 1s cpt has been a medic and it seems that he's spent the summer and early season selling the club to the other and new medics. Unfortunately it seems he's been over selling the club, its a rather odd situation for us to be almost turning down players as in the past we've struggled for numbers. However we're only a small club and this year we seem to have attracted alot of players back (old players) and our youth development is now starting to come into action (which is a great thing and what we should be encouraging more than students that'll only be with us for a few years)

Like I said its odd to not want a couple of new players, but I just don't think they fit with us (in an already full squad) and they're definitely not good enough for the 1s. Think they''l end up back at Sheff Uni Bankers (which is the Uni merged with the City centre club)

    No game today. Frozen pitch.

Fecking Barnsley made us go there for a 10.30 start only for our players to discover the pitch was frozen. Lucky we didn't have far to travel, was back home again before the supposed 10.30 KO time.

Sand, old fashioned sand based at that, the ones that right the skin clean off if you look at them funny.

Pretty much all the games in Yorkshire were off due to frozen pitches, even the water based ones. Played on a water based when its been frozen, twice. First time they did nothing and it was rather crunchy under foot. Second they watered the pitch in an attempt to unfreeze it, didn't work the water just sat on top and it was like playing in a paddling pool.

This is a ferrari second team to go with haas who are in effect a second team as well... in reality is a bigger budget with a view to selling alpha name again. Its all ferrari technology. If they get the works spec engine and put ferrari development drivers in there the team can grow a bit.

It also strongly pushes the ferrari agenda with respect to 2021 and new engine rules as ferrari can now pulll two full teams and leave haas high and dry too.

There is a high proportion of Lesbians in womens hockey. Soooooooo.....

Whats not to get the game is pretty much the same as football, except use of a stick instead of foot. And its faster. Two teams trying to score goals and win a game.
Sure, how exciting was that first Ashes test, the one that didn't even go the full 5 days and was won by 10 wickets. Close was it....?
Test cricket is dull, always has been hence why its dying. Limited overs games is where the crowds are heading.

Thought I might get a bite <whistle> .........I'm old school mate, brought up on Test cricket. Its the purest form of the sport by far imo.
I can't stand the slog fest that is 20/20. And just because a test finishes inside 5 days doesn't mean there is no excitement.
What would happen if a game of hockey lasted 4 or 5 days?

The same as if a football game lasted 4-5 days, everybody would be knacked. Its a ridiculous comparison, the effort levels in the space of time are just nowhere near the same. In the space of Hockey match it possible that only 5-10 overs might have been bowled. Also we don't have hour long breaks during play or even short drinks breaks.

The problem for Test cricket is pedestrian pace and the lack of finish. Its rare that a test is close and frankly its only that last day that is exciting if it is (which might not be the 5th day). Also as I mentioned the fact that very little can happen over a long space of time just puts people off test.

Test matches still go into a fifth day sometimes, its the gentle ebb and flow of Test cricket that people enjoy. Things can change within an hour
or even within a few overs on occasion. Heard someone say recently that the India v Pakistan matches are watched by one and a half billion
people and a billion people watch every ball <yikes>

Interesting to see Tiger Woods return today.

Apparently he was outdriving Dustin in a few friendly rounds and beating him, McIlroy, Fowler etc . He's pain free and no longer has the shakes in his hands from the nerve reaction to the back and pain killers.

Will be interesting to see what he can do now in tournament settings
