I'm pretty sure he was the one who began our downfall by fleecing the club by buying players for way over market value only using one agent.. It still sticks in my throat when I hear people saying they would have him back..
Its an odd one isn't it. When he first came to the club he would spend the money like it was his own - he was well thrifty. That's why Bob Murray loved him Contrast that with the outlay on Piper, Steven Wright, Tore Andre Flo. Then people like Babb and Bjurkland who were poor players given good contracts. Its like there was the Reid of the Bob Saxton era and the Reid of the Adrian Heath era I still think he did more good than bad though
He said he threatened to walk away when Murray refused to invest at Christmas. We were second in the league and he wanted to push for the title but Murray said he wouldn't put the money in. Wonder if things would've been different had that happened? I don't blame him for any if the financial stuff now mind. He was a dodgy bloke but Murray sold the club after he'd gone iirc
Teeside seems to think I am like Fred west for some reason, yet you have never met me so what the hell is your problem ? most of the posters on 606 are great and have a laugh and argument now and again but that is banter, I went to every 3rd division game in the 80's so i am not fickle like some, so just keep up the insults they do not worry me one bit. And how do you know I have a limp cock ? hehe.
What makes you think that I've got a problem?? I give you nice food recipes and song lyrics, so don't be so ungrateful.
Because you're 97. I don't think your like Fred West at all. I was thinking more along the lines of Jimmy Saville.
