Ask him if he'll lend me £60/week to carry on smoking? Seriously, would a GP ever say anything other than to give up?
just stop. my aunt celebrated 6 months without a cigarette on saturday, she just stopped after 30 years smoking.
When I was young I was on a coach to Portsmouth with the school football team and had half of the sandwiches my mum had packed for me. On the way back I had a cigarette then went to finish off my sandwiches and they didn't taste very nice. Never smoked since. The best way to stop for good is to use your own will power. Then: Give away any you have left Don't buy any more for "just in case" Adopt a zero tolerance policy (none of this "just one because ...") Start to notice how much people smell of smoke (horrible) Notice how much your clothes smell if there is a smoker any where near you (yuk) Look at the ceilings of rooms that have been subjected to smoking Most smokers smoke from habit. You can predict when they will reach for a cigarette. Save the money you would have spent on cigarettes Periodically calculate how much money you are saving and what you could buy if you let it build up Feel sorry for people who can't give it up, especially the ones who claim they could if they wanted to. Do it now, rather than when you hear those frightening words from the doctor. After a while you will start to feel fitter. Never let yourself be tempted to the odd one. ZERO TOLERANCE Just think to yourself "I used to be like that".
