I realise some have more time on their hands than others and I don't want to make a big thing about this, but the first half dozen posters on the Norwich prediction league thread use this site for just that - joining in and enjoying Sheepy's prediction league. It would nice if we could get a few more to join in with other posted threads to widen the opinion base on here and make the forum more interesting. This is not a rant, far from it and I don't want to upset anyone - just an observation. CCFC posters can post as little or as much as they like on here - it's just that this forum is being supported and maintained by probably a dozen posters at most otherwise it would die like a few others club forums have already. Come on lads, start posting on other threads and stick a few up of your own.
Totally agree with Sparks. The best thing for the forum is to have a wide range of views and exchanges of opinions even if they differ, e.g. Whiffle and someone else last week about Malky. Sorry can't remember who "someone else" was but it all ended amicably. Unlike some if the exchanges in John Huws time. Strangely, since I retired I'm posting less. Must have had more time in my hands when working. Any views on that Barry Tiger?
Just a thought Sparks, how about putting your post and mine on a separate thread rather than being buried on the Prediction League?
I'm around and about. It's just that not seeing a lot live, there is not much sense in my posting about actual play or even players. But I enjoy the crack on here and I find other poster' comments useful and a guide for me. Stevo is missed for his optimism when you miserable ****ers are having a downer. Shame he's not about so much. I ghost a bit on the Swans board coz they are always good for entertainment whether up or down and it's even better when they turn on each other. To be fair to John Hughs, I miss him coz he always had something to say even if it was tosh. A bit of a CCFC Daiswan, methinks.
I am not surprised you have less time to post stuff as since you retired you seem to spend most of it on beaches in Portugal and other sunny places. Perhaps you need to go on a time management course like the one the referee at Forest had been on
Problem is its' become a bit of a 'Warnock luv-in' (rightly so I suppose). Every one being in harmony is, in many ways a good thing, but doesn't make for best debates. For example if I were to put forward my strongest XI, I wouldn't mind betting (what odds Sparks) that almost all would agree. Best times on here is when people have strong views that differ from others strong views...always remember proudly announcing to my daughter that I had a 'nemesis' on this site (Sparky in the latter Malky days). Best reads on here lately have been the responses to the reactions by other clubs to Warnock simply because their views are different. Maybe we're getting too polite?
OK then, we need some more spice on this forum! Malky was a twat and Tan was our saviour - and still is. Take your point Whiffle - those disagreements between us at the time were good forum stuff and said without personal malice, just differences of opinion. Perhaps we need to desist from deifying Warnock for a while, sit back and just let it roll.
I've seen on another board (it might even have been the Swans board ) where they had a rota/schedule for the match day threads. They took each game in turn and wrote a match day thread and created a discussion for the week. Whilst you don't want to exactly 'force' people to post, what is the point if nobody posts. Worth a suggestion - could potentially be linked with the prediction league? I actually think it's been on here than it has for a while - when it was negative and nobody wanted to post. I think we have a good core of regular posters who are interesting to read. My main concern is the turnover in posters. When I took over as mod, I was under the impression that we were one of the fastest growing boards on here, hence the discussion for a third moderator. Whilst the Prediction League isn't an accurate indicator, the drop from over 30 posters to just about 20 each week, shows the way things are going. No idea how we halt this or attract more posters?
It is hard to find anything major to dislike about our current situation. Tan converting debt into equity, colin riling the opposition, lots of players scoring the odd goal, no one scoring against us, everyone hating us, we're playing in blue, not selling our best players. Happy days. Oh, and Sparky's bets are providing entertaining movements even when we don't play. Any complaints over the texture of the pies at the ground or the temperature of the Bovril? Someone could start a 'the queues are too long at the gents at half time' post? Difficult to know where to start about getting more posters. Hard to run a recruitment campaign. No use for me to try and recruit, working in Liverpool there are lots of blue and red supporters. Saying that, it was the same when I was working in Manchester last year. Maybe need to have a half price not606 ticket for existing members to bring a mate! Or free entry to the prediction league for life for new members.
im always up for a views on here, especially mine cannabis, coffee and a clotted cream scone are dream like conditions...........but don't tell biggins
I used to post to 4 Cardiff City forums, I found 2 of them very juvenile and was banned by AA for not agreeing to every thing he said. I see myself posting more and more on Twitter & Facebook, I wonder if others do the same? The old BBC606 had 3 or 4 times more posters than we have now.
True Dal. Many came on here when it moved from BBC and it was successful for a while. Then relegation, managerial changes, poor signings and football together with the anti Tan situation did for many. The success of Swansea and their fans regular sorties over here didn't help. Not really sure what we can do to attract posters other than word of mouth or perhaps copying comments and links to other sites and social media.
The point I was making in the OP was that if some posters can find the time to log on to post on and enjoy the prediction league, they can find time to post on other threads as well. The problem with the sheer lack of numbers on here seems to be the absence of some long standing good posters (Stevo in particular) is one issue. There is also a lack of new posters joining the forum. I can remember not so long back when we used to welcome new members regularly to the site - not any more. How we change that and recruit more I have no idea. Back to the original point though. A short term answer would be for you guys who only come on here to use Sheepy's prediction league for your enjoyment - will you please contribute more.
