Who is being stereotyped here - new age travellers, Rumanians, Gypsies ? At any rate it is an attempt to stereotype a whole ethnic group on the basis of 3 of them. I could just as easily provide a video of 3 English football hooligans on location in Europe, together with the commentary 'A nice reminder of the antics of our English 'friends'`` and it would be just as ludicrous as this is. They are just petty criminals - no other commentary is needed.

 

Poor persecuted 'travellers' going about their normal business. It is scandalous showing the public what they do, some bright spark will mention Nazi germany next!!

 

Having read a few comments in national newspapers this morning, it does seem that many people are very confused and bitter.

 

Do I video your activities and send it to the Daily Mail ? All appears very targeted to me. How does she, or anyone else, know their ethnic origins - did she ask them for their passports perhaps ? They were just 3 men, a van, and a fridge - any commentary further than that is intended only to provoke a racist reaction.

 

If you read the daily mail it only Aug I firs the extent of your prejudices.

 

This story is a year old so please let's not use it to spark prejudice.

I agree, this persecuted minority should appeal to the Council for Civil Liberties to complain they were prevented from carrying out their normal duties in privacy. There is no proof of guilt. They may have been providing the local community with a modern art display and wanted it to be a surprise when it was finished, or just leaving some handy furniture for those in need. I'm sure somebody is working on a claim for compensation for these unfortunate people, surely a case for The European Court of Human Rights. There does seem to be quite a few of these misunderstood groups working in Hertfordshire at the moment. The general public should learn to appreciate the different methods of such minorities and applaud their diversity. It would be so boring if we all used the normal waste recycling centres.

 

Sarcasm is the cheapest form of humour SH. You have 3 men, a van, and a fridge - nothing more, nothing less. No grounds for siting this as a general behaviour pattern for a whole group of people - in fact you do not even know their ethnic origins. It is also, as Yorkie has pointed out, over a year old. The other point is - the headline says she was 'petrified' - yet apparently not too petrified to be able to calmly make a video of it. This comes over to me as one very large contradiction.

 

These cameras are fitted to thousands of cars and run constantly, you know very little about cars. You only have to look at the filth left by travellers when they move on. In your strange mind, you would say the mess is obviously planted by right wing racists groups.

Actually I don't have a car, and,as you say, I don't know much about them - nore do I want to. I do know that if 3 English locals decided that they wanted to dump a fridge somewhere that nobody would bother to video them, and that it would not be considered as newsworthy by the Daily Mail - in fact it would struggle to get into the local newspaper.

 

I find it odd on a political debate thread that a poster wants to upload an article seemingly to raise attention to 'travellers'.

I'm sure the video would still be newsworthy. As the UK suffers greatly from the mess caused by travellers I can assure you most locals would take great interest. You seem to put your head in the sand with any situation that does not fit your world.

 

Travellers, especially guests from other countries are of great political interest. Hopefully after Brexit we can deport anyone guilty of such antisocial behaviour.

 

Most 'travellers' are British SH.

 

Are so called 'travellers' the only people to dump fridges SH ? I would suggest that if it has become newsworthy then it is because of their ethnic identity and not because of the fridge.
