Can't agree with this.no sort of drilling will get henricksen to put his foot in or make himself available.our team is full of nearly players without the determination to turn themselves into winners.there is ability there but its not enough
Yet the weird thing is that he's appeared to favour Henriksen over Irvine or Toral, and that to me is him digging his own, or our, ****ing grave!
Did he? I need evidence. But even on Football Manager you need replacements. Did anyone show him how if he played with crayons from August through to the following May, some would snap, some would wear down, others would go through periods were they did not make a mark. As he needs lots of different colours to do nice pictures, a football team needs a similar variety of players in different positions. And then he's only allowed to get new ones in August and January?
How did you come to hire Leonid Slutsky? We went through the same process as we did with Marco. It was an intensive process looking at a lot of detail, the previous performances at all of the clubs, had he done better or worse than the managers which proceeded him and that followed him. In that sense he had a really good record and a good style of play which fitted the style of play we had under Marco which we wanted to adopt as the club’s philosophy which is predominantly 4-3-3, bit more attacking using wingers. You can see the change in the squad we have had to make to accommodate that style of play.
You can't argue with his record in Russia, but you can argue that it's a league that will only ever have one of 3 winners, the English championship is a totally different kettle of fish! It's probably one of if not the most even and most competitive leagues in the world! He's just not cutting it and doesn't seem strong enough to turn it around.... I also can't argue the fact that he has definitely been shot on by the owners and we should have a better squad, but it doesn't change the fact that the squad we have is much better then the position we are in and a manager with a better understanding of the league would be doing much better..... Just ask yourself this, would we be in this position with the same players if we had warnock or similar in charge?
I can't answer that because I have no idea about the backroom staff. If Warnock was taking training, but with limited coaches, he might not be able to get his ideas across. Just came across this article, which is somewhat ironic and also backs up your point to a degree. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/hugely-talented-england-arent-up-10579483
All managers have their favourites and some have definitely hurt us in the past, Bruce with Elmo, Phelan Marshall, Silva maybe Grosicki. The one good thing Slutsky has done at least is to recognise that Bowen is an enthusiastic and skillful player for us, none of the last three managers realised that. While he would have had less impact in the top tier he would still have had more enthusiasm than the waning interest from the loans we got by the end.
I first saw that turn of phrase on an American forum and it was 'even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again', I don't know if that was the original version.
There have been five since the year 2000. Spartak won it last year for the first time since 2001. It's not like the SPL.
The problem was they didn't bring in players that were good enough at this level, and also the players brought in are a mishmash that don't really suit the system. It seems to me there has been little thought about getting players that fit each position.
