He could at least man up and admit he got it wrong, though I would prefer a grovelling apology.

Stay on topic laddy. A number of people accused me of lying and then vanished when I proved them wrong.

    Apologies welcome.

It is a derogatory term used to describe unionist / loyalists and / or member of the protestant community in Northern Ireland, so many define it as sectarian abuse.

It was used in WW1 for propaganda means to dehumanize the German people and soldiers, due to Kaiser Wilhelm telling his troops to make an impact like the Huns did many centruries before. Unsure how that name then transfered to people from Northern Ireland but one theory that I have heard is the British people that settled here were and are seen by many as "invaders" much like the Huns were.

It is a bit of a hot topic on here as some people in Scotland fail to acknowledge the sectarian meanings behind this word and say that it is simply a word to describe Rangers fan.

That is after a man wearing this word on a t-shirt getting arrested and charged with religiously aggravated breach of the peace, anti-sectarian group Nil By Mouth claiming it is a sectarian term, unoffical spokesman for Celtic and Neil Lennons lawyer Paul McBride QC telling people to cut this out and now this young lad getting ejected from a stadium (and possibly charged) for having this word on a banner.

Despite all this, some people on here are determined to ignore all the above points and continue to use it themselves, I suppose until they are physically ejected from the crowd and found guilty in a court of law.

  17. So, again, Medro, it describes a protestant/unionist does it?

So, we can deduce that the young Motherwell fan is not a protestant?

And as he was quite cleary (according to "Medro's Law") guilty of "religiously aggravated breach of the peace", I assume I will be reading about it when the young lad makes his appearance in court?

Medro, how did you find this photograph and story? It was not covered in the press or Media that I have seen so how did you stumble across it?

Was it on "Follow Follow" that you read about it?

Please tell me which part you think is a lie?

Yes in Northern ireland it is a derogatory term for a member of protestant/unionist or loyalist community.

Either not a protestant/unionist/loyalist or maybe just unaware of what the word means. He is a child afterall.

Well obviously we don't know the circumstances and wehther or not this child will be charged do we.
