I’ve been shrewd and booked the HIAG clan into the local Harvester for Christmas Dinner. I’ve told them they can “go mad” and literally have anything, even steak! I will probably go for two bottles of wine, too. That’s the thing about me, I’m always thinking of others.
I'm torn about eating out for Christmas dinner, yes all the stress of cooking it is gone but then you're in amoungst a load of strangers so regardless of the quality of the food I don't think I'd fancy it.
If you haven't already booked up, you've probably left it to late now. Christmas dinner should be ate at home, with friends/family.
Have done it once in my lifetime - the year my old man died - my mother really didn't fancy cooking as feelings were too raw - we went to a hotel in Leicester town centre - food was nice and we probably found it easier to eat than we would have at home - but Christmas dinner is all about families and I only really started to enjoy it again fully once I had my own kids ..
Just had a scan through the DAB channels and found Bravo Xmas. Wall to wall Christmas bangers. It's too soon so I turned back to 6 Music. Not before I listened to The Housemartins though.
That was my intention, Tel. I’m not really taking the family to Harvester for our Christmas Dinner.* *It’s far too upmarket.
