I smoke about ten a day and i think its time to quit as i just cant afford it any longer, i mean you have to take into consideration the amount of skins, grinders, tobacco and of course the main ingredient, ha heesh you go through, its nuts, anyway.. Any advice would be great!!
JUst quit I smoked 10-15 a day for 10 years. My missus bet me on new years day 2010 that i couldnt quit So i gave up at the end of that day (the next day was Celtic v Rangers too so how the **** i didnt give in that day i'll never know) Bar the odd one when im very drunk i've been off them ever since The desire to prove my missus wrong was a strong motivation - along with will power. By this point i genuinely wanted to quit If you dont really want to quit you wont. I did have some little microtab things for the first week or so - but they were rank - so rarely used them
Cold Turkey is the best way. If you use quitting aids, you may break the habit of smoking but you'll still be addicted to nicotine. I smoked 20-30 per day for 20 years and went cold turkey 11 months ago. After 3 weeks you'll barely think about it. BTW, Radio 4 is talking about sectarianism in Scotland as I type, may interest a few people on here.
Go cold turkey. I did that in March. Woke up with chest pains and decided that was it. Tried a cig after 12 days as a non smoker on a night out on the tiles and threw up all over the street. Never smoked a cig since. I've tried hypnotherapy and patches in the past with no success. I think using your health as an incentive to stop is the way forward. I don't even think about smoking now, even when I'm mortal drunk.
I know a guy who stopped smoking after years of it and within a year, he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Sometimes stopping smoking after a long period isn't the best idea.
