Not really even sure how you actually judge sporting achievements between different sports anyways.

I suppose as long as Hamilton doesn't win it's fine.

There’s one big name missing off the list that should really have been the first one on there.

Surely not? He's the best driver in the world (providing he has a faster car than everyone else obviously).

Surely the achievement is based on the competition. Where’s the lads who won the World Cups?

I suppose he’s as British as Johanna Konta.

I was referring to me. I’m disappointed that you, as my online coach & mentor, failed to spot this. Another big test on the 17th of next month, pulling up the football socks & lacing up the boots for a final swan song. That'll be entertaining.

Being the Premier League's top scorer is in itself a major sporting achievement.

Agreed, but its not on par with becoming the best in the world at your chosen sport. I mean why not have the top run maker in English cricket this year or the top try scorer in Premiership Rugby? They're both major sporting achievements too.

So it isn't about personality then? Actually it is obvious it isn't given the lack of personality of most previous inners.
The one chance to give it to someone with a personality, Graham Hill the only person to win the Indianapolis 500, the Monaco Grand Prix and the Le Mans 24 hours, ended up with him second to David Hemery.

I don't think it's got anything to do with personality, people generally vote for whatever they think was the biggest sporting achievement.

So Henry Cooper was best in the world twice? Stirling Moss was World Champion? Though the both had a personality, Steve Davis didn't have a personality or play a sport.
