Best of all I bet the taste is next level.

It's amazing how simple something like tomatoes and cucumber can be so tasty when fresh grown

Also eating local food when in other countries is amazing. Mediterranean tomatoes, those big red wagon wheel slices. I could just eat a plate of those with a bit of olive oil and salt.

When I travel I tend to eat a lot of street food as you know you’re going to get good local specialities. And most of it is as good if not better than the stuff served up in fancy restaurants.

    Yeah I agree.

I hardly eat fruit or say tomatoes raw nowadays but when I have gone back to my dads homeland I eat loads

Plum tomatoes lightly salted I could eat all day there

Yeah. Dad was from city and mum from village so had best of both worlds as a kid

None of this buying flour in bags but fresh milled from home grown wheat. Fresh veg etc and animals literally killed for the meal.

Even in the city we had a huge garden with mango, guava, orange, banana trees etc so literally ate off them

And milk, wow. Would sit with mum as she milked a cow and she would literally squirt it into my mouth

    Totally different level.

I would love to visit Kashmir and Nepal at some point. I love those dry spicy dishes from the north.

Yep nothing like home grown and local food. I used to live on small dairy farm when I was a student, so I used to help out with the milking (and calving)

We used to have a fresh warm jug of milk each morning, fresh from the gurnsey cattle. The cream on the top of the jug was as deep as the milk itself.

The disputed side is by far the more beautiful, my family us from the azad (free) Kashmir side.

And yeah as kids we would fight for the cream.

I had some Bruschetta in Rome last week. Just chopped tomatoes, salt, pepper, olive oil and herbs on lightly toasted bread. It was ****ing heaven, no way could I ever hope to reproduce that at home.

It's not just the dietary aspect Tobes, a vegan I know won't wear leather or any other clothing that originates from animals or use most mainstream toiletries etc. Constantly whinging that all the well known department stores don't cater for her!
