On this evidence, he is not worth the £130m bid that Barcelona are rumoured to be preparing. He may yet stay with us.
there's a vanity thing about it now. barca were spurned. it cannot be let lie. they will be back BUT theres nothing to say they have to offer 130mil. the fee will be 100mil max and it could be over 5 years for all we know.
Barcelona are at a crossroads just like Real Madrid. Their star players are ageing or have left. Ronaldo must have acheived his peak and is on the way down. So is Messi. Suarez is no longer as effective as with Neymar and Messi. They have to identify the best talent out there and pay over the odds for them.
I actually agree with you. I wouldn't expect us to blow all the money on a replacement. The defence is atrocious right now.
There seems to be a cycle. 4 months of "oh my God, how can we live without Coutinho" followed by 4 months of "Coutinho is really not that great, he goes missing for 85 mins each game". The simple truth is, he's a hot and cold player. When he's good he's world class. When he's bad... He's still pretty decent and worth points on the table... But nothing to write home to Aunt Sally about.
I don't think we should sell unless we have a replacement lined up and the replacement should be less than the amount we get so that we can use some of the money in other areas.
If Coutinho does not go to Barca or PSG I wonder if he will get his head down and play, or just sulk until his contract ends then walk. Should be interesting.
If he wants to go then milk them for every penny that we can but identify a target and get him in before selling on. Perhaps why we're linked with Draxler. Keeping him at Anfield doesn't make sense if we get a good offer for him. By good I also refer to payment terms and add ons etc. Screw him..but more importantly, screw them
