I agree re Bertrand, we don't know what happens in training etc but I thought he was rejuvenated today without Redmond in the team, he's always had the skill but body language determination and enthusiasm huge improvement. PS criticism of FF today is absurd. Well done Saints.

Indeed. And not just in training - we also don't know their personal views/opinions. But purely based on on-field body language, I have thought for sometime now (since January maybe?) that the two of them really do not like each other. And a selfish streak that Redmond seems to have (something which I think/hope with age, and the right management, could be removed from Redmond's game - making him a much better player) - or if it's not that, then Nathan's intelligence/decision making is just awful - cannot help the situation between the two of them. Although potentially that could be the reason for Bertrand's seeming dislike of Redmond.

Bertrand and Tadic have long since shown that they have a good on-field relationship and understanding, whilst Bertrand and Boufal have shown promising signs to date.

I saw this post and thought it was probably you over reacting... then I read the post you were replying to!!

That sort of shot you just have to accept you can't do anything to stop apart from close the man down. The keeper has no chance at all with that. De gea, Buffon or Neuer, doesn't matter who is in goal that was destined for the back of the net.

When Charlie hit the post in the first half, I thought "Gabbi would have buried that". But for both his goals, I thought "thank god he's on the pitch".
Just opinions though. ****it, we won.

I haven't seen the goal (their's) back yet, but I know that as soon as Siggurdson got a shot off, I thought "that's going in". Not because it was a great strike (it was), but because Fraser. Unjustified perhaps, but that would be the reason for the knee jerk reactions from some fans - because, bless him, Fraser has been wearing deep sea diver's boots all season.

Indeed. There is absolutely no way that any blame can be attached to Fraser. If you really, really wanted to nit-pick at his game, you could highlight his kick immediately after Yoshida came on, which went straight out of play. But that really is it.

Fundamentally, he was only asked to do two things today - catch Everton's corner in the first half, and save the rather straight forward shot from distance in the second half - and he did both. Thus he had a fine, although admittedly quiet, game.

Agreed, but that was two unmarked headers with the ball dropped on his head pretty much.

Can I just say, at half time I was crying out for Gabbi to come on for Charlie, as I didn’t think Charlie had contributed much, and it was exactly the type of game where Gabbi would get a hatful. And it was his birthday.

    Then Charlie scored twice.

So, essentially, what do I know!!?

He’s undoubtedly an improvement in CDM but I just don’t think you can justify dropping anyone. Sets a bad precedent, those players put in such a good performance. I was thinking we need Lemina but after so many bad performances those 11 deserve to start. Maybe not Virgil though

I didn’t mean it in that way, of course a glancing one can be proper. However, there is always a small element of luck involved. This one went exactly where h was aiming. Anyway, my point was that it wasn’t a simple a goal as was being suggested. Both Austin’s movement and the actual header were top class. You just know that Long would have got there and somehow contrive to slide it past the post.

Very true. I’m being unnecessarily harsh (I just love Gabbi and really feel for the bloke).

Reading the Everton forum, they REALLY hate Schneiderlin there.

It’s lovely to see, how after pursuing Koeman so hard with all their promises, he’s gone there and left them in an absolute mess.
