Boufal had a very good game, probably his best for us. Unfortunately for him, he finished a long way back (in second place) in the race for MOTM. PEH wins that as easily as Lemina won it against Palace. No excuse now for MP to not use him on a much more regular basis.

Brilliant result, brilliant performance. Points to make are:

    - Amazing what happens what you take Tadic away from the right flank (and even better, put an actual right sided player there in JWP)
    - Amazing what happens when you exclude Redmond from the starting XI, especially in the case of including Bertrand in attacks and getting success down our left flank
    - Everton were absolutely awful. Possibly the worst away performance at SMS since we returned to the PL, by any team not based in the North East.
    - There was a slightly worrying period after going 3-1 up where we started to sit back. I had visions of West Ham again, only thankfully our opponents this time didn't have a Hernandez in their team.

I knew. I absolutely knew that someone would have a go at him. I said it the moment the ball went in. Bloody ridiculous. Utterly, stupidly, ****ing ridiculous statement...

I liked Cedric a lot too, particularly when he slaughtered Sigurdsson and got a hole in his leg for his troubles. Both of the wide partnerships were so good that Everton gave up defending them. Hojbjerg can make it to the World Cup if he starts enough games for us.

watch his face 5seconds after his shot goes wide, he actually sees jwp for the first time. however i am not going to attack any player of having a go when one on one with the keeper

Davis was pretty much faultless today?

Wow, i'm still shaking from excitement!, that was entertainment overload today all in just 90 minutes and my poor brain was not ready for the shock.
We had pace, movement, energy, commitment but most of all the whole team just clicked and played some wonderful football at times. The inclusion of Pierre, JWP and Charlie were key to that (who said that Charlie was finished?) The attack had a focal point, both on the ground and in the air as he has the intelligence to get himself into great positions to score. Bertie had easily his best game this season and linked well with Boufal.
Yes, Everton were poor, but we would've beaten many sides playing like that today.

I forgot to give Pellegrino credit, whatever he did in training this week worked out big time!.

Well that was the perfect remedy for my hangover.
Great team performance too albeit against a dreadful Everton side.
Could easily have been more with the scoreline flattering one of the worst teams I've seen at St Mary's for quite a few years.
Cracking goal from Sig though, nothing Forster could have done to save that.

I’ll say it again. I don’t think Charlie was suddenly getting into positions that were new and revolutionary. What was new was us finding the striker in those positions. Again, that sounds a criticism of Charlie - it’s not. Just an observation that the previous failings was nothing to do with who or what was up front. (All just in my opinion, of course).

He made things tick over nicely and moved the ball quicker than usual.

    Does this work?

    Cedric - Holland x2 - Bertie
    Lemina - Romeu
    Hojbjerg - Boufal - Tadic
    Charlie / Gabbi

but I want JWP and Davis too!

    so maybe drop Romeu?

(What was also new was playing a completely abject team who allowed us the time and space to play like that. Some of our quick build up play was a joy though, and would have troubled any team).
