I have recently learnt that the tax evasion scheme that Rangers have recently been found guilty of was in use by over 80 English teams at the time HMRC starting showing interest in Rangers. All but 5 of these teams stopped using the scheme as soon as HMRC showed an interest in Rangers using it.
Those 5 teams were still using the scheme at the point Rangers were found guilty. All 5 are or have been Premier league teams while the investigation and court case have been going on, of the 5, 4 have been relegated in that time one of which more than once (Not sure if that means they've been relegated promoted and relegated again or dropped down the leagues)

They fully expect all 5 times would have to fold due to the level of Tax, penalties and interest involved.

I know this information is a bit vague but it comes from someone with great knowledge and many connections in the tax world.

They wouldn't say who the 5 teams are but pretty much said Sunderland isn't one of them.

Obviously I immediately thought about us.

Well the other side of the Rangers case seems to relate to Employee Benefit Trusts (to avoid paying tax and NI).

Edit: seems to relate to companies using it before 2011, so also on Bartlett's watch.

There is no doubt Assam Allam is quite worried about this Geovanni case, as in the interview with Geoff from HCST he did mention it, and said it could have meaningful consequences.

Good get out clause for them then. HMRC put us into liquidation and we are back to where we started.

Would he? Really? How many years as owner with interest on his gift? I think he wouldn't mind it costing him a bit to put two fingers up to us.

I'm not sure if you're up on Hull City history, but we've never played in the Humber Premier League.

There is, I play in it, but it's not where Hull City would end up, or an incarnation of them if we did have to liquidise.

Where do you think a new club, which is what It would be if we were liquidated, would have to start off in? Not sure of where it would be. Would be interesting though to set new crowd records. Though we couldn't be called Hull City. Hull Tigers maybe? Or by the city's proper name. Uniting the city, Kingston United would be a good name. Three coronets as a badge playing in the city colours of blue and yellow. Just a nickname needed.
Let's hope it is something we never have to thing about, eh?<laugh>

They'd either start in North East Counties Division 1 or in the Humber Premier League, depending on where there is space. Hereford United reformed and started at Level 9, they still get 1400 at home every week. You could still call them Hull City and drop the AFC I suppose.

Could we keep the name though if we were starting again after liquidation? Hereford United are now Hereford FC. Halifax Town are FC Halifax. Scarborough FC are Scarborough Athletic. Maybe we could shorten the name from Hull City to Kingston Upon Hull City AFC like Harold Needler wanted to do after the war, playing in blue and orange. Stopping the chairman being able to fulfil his plans has cost us riches, glory and domination more than once.

I have no idea what the rules are, I assumed our registered playing name was Hull City AFC, so I figured if we dropped the AFC bit, we could have our current name still. We couldn't have Hull United or AFC Hull, those are taken. Kingston Upon Hull F.C. isn't too bad I guess.
