Watched all the game in bed feeling very rough after a near all nighter after turning 35 yesterday. Newcastle were poor but Watford did what they had to do. It could have been more. A solid win, much needed given the next two fixtures. It certainly gave me a lift. Good to see players coming back from injuries too. The squad looks strong there is competition for all positions, maybe bar the onion bagger but he even put a good shift in despite some dodgy finishing, everyone played well enough today. Bring on Moanrinhio Tuesday!
Just got back tired exhausted hoarse road weary sung out trafficked out smiled out content ... just one more thing to add it... perhaps should have been 5 or 6
I was just thinking that this side is looking almost as good as the great 80s GT teams... the speed in which we brought it forward was awesome at time...
Mind you before this game we had the same points total as last season at this stage! Lets just hope we don't fall away!
Looking at the fixtures and results I said this may happen to my wife and she dismissed it and just said something like ‘but you’re expected to beat Newcastle so it’s not a shock or anything’. Well I never...
On BBC match report: ‘Watford, who can now call upon captain Troy Deeney following the end of his three-match ban for violent conduct, face Manchester United, Tottenham and Burnley next. After that, all their December fixtures are against sides currently below them in the table, giving them a chance of extending their run in the top half of the Premier League.’ Why can’t we extend our run in the top half against MU, Spurs and Burnley? ‘Giving them a chance’! Still underestimating us.
GT's team lost 15 league matches and finished runners up. Manchester City got relegated (can't see that happening) with Brighton and Swansea...
Blimey Gray really did miss 2 great chances - his goal was probably the hardest one ! And they had 3-4 too. Could have been 2-6!
Yes.... and the commentator for the big misses said 'lacking in confidence' 'no conviction' ... and he really turned to the fans for acclaim after he scored.... I do hope he can move on an upward from this.... Many of the match?? For me Hughes who was all over the pitch...
For those making comparisons with 82/83, remember that they had 4 more games. To finish with the same points per game ratio, we'd need to have 64 points.
Just think about had we not thrown away the Everton and Chelsea games... could have (should have?) been in top 4 or 5!
