Harsh on the keeper, Page. He's covering his near post, in the right position, if the cross was hit true he'd have had time to get across to try and deal with it. It was a fluke. Mind you, you have to ask why there were two Chelsea players unmarked on the far post from the cross. If it had gone where Willian obviously intended it to, they were queueing up for a free header.
Can't be arsed arguing mate, but whether a draw isn't a shambles or not our defence/goalkeeper are, and what made it a shambles was we were in front and he got his substitutions and timing all wrong. Disappointed we never won, if we'd been behind and snatched a draw at the end like them I'd agree with you.
It's not an isolated case though saint, we can't hold on to a lead on a consistent basis, ruining the season for me.
Not looking for an argument mate Just saying, it's frustrating and I was fuming but looking back - if that freak goal doesn't happen it would have been a good day at the office and job done
Sounds like they had the better of the game so happy enough with a point but frustrated that we couldn't see it out for and undeserved 3 points.
Am ok with a draw tbh. I think Chelsea deserved their goal, albeit lucky. We left acres of space for the likes of fabregas to pick his pass, the goal was coming and sure enough it came. Mignolet was unlucky with the goal and good for the match....except his fast distribution....he'll never have that unfortunately. Salah was a threat all day. We should have had Mane on earlier imo, perhaps Chelsea wouldnt have felt quite so adventurous if he was. All that said, Sturridge is pointless. Let him go. Klavan is not good enough. Am beginning to think that we should buy a CB (VvD?) and also a RB so that Gomez can move into a central position. Our midfield Tracy Ed hrs today but was very one dimensional. We need Keita plus one. Today wasn't a bad result. Win our next two and we'll be fine.
Bar a couple of scrambles that we actually got away with for once, our defence was actually decent for once. Didn't look like conceding imo and only beaten by a freak cross. Is have taken the draw beforehand but for the second game running, it's frustrating after leading going into the final minutes.
Sometimes I wonder how we train. There were a few times when we pressed and left gaping holes in midfield. Reality is that their goal came from them having way too much space. We have one way of playing and one way only.
We sat back and got deeper as the game went on. We let them press us. Imo, the two changes were made ten minutes too late
I have no problem with sitting back tbh. The problem we have is that while our defence drops deeper, our midfield collectively charge forward leaving acres of space behind them and our defence exposed.
IMO i find this all very odd. 1. I've said numerous times o this site that our squad isn't up to it and expressed that 6th, fa cup run and last 16 of CL would be the best we could do. 2. We just drew with the league champions, a side with talent all through it. Azpi saved him about 4 times, courtois saved from salah very well to save them late on. We matched up with them! (thats a top 3 team we just drew with.) 3. In case people missed this you can flog players pretty quickly and we have lots of games in the next month. Mane was injured twice already this season and only just back and was forced to play 90 midweek. Firmino players 90 most games and was used twice in last week. 4. In case anyone missed it can and lovren were out. Our sole defensive subs were an 18 year old RB and a LB whos started one game. Klopp put wijnaludm on as a CM before the goal. Just who precisely was coming on for say henderson who was a rung out rag?? I would just like to know exactly what bar swapping coutinho for lallana klopp had i nthe bag here? 5. Lallana was stood on sideline for about 5mins and couldn't get on. seriously.... we are a **** team enough if you take a couple players out but the effort and work rate is making up the difference. Klopp kept coutinho. Klopp bought salah On the other hand klopp stuck himself with klavan and moreno. It is what it is and i'm personally very happy to not lose ground on cheslea and spurs this weekend and look forward to 3 tough games that we need to be winning stoke, brighton, everton.....
I totally agree. I was watching the madness with amusement as henderson the no 6 was most advanced CM, tired but still up there out of position and just anywhere he felt like and milner doing the same. nobody at all plugged that LM/LW slot and moreno refused to come out to any corss and try block so time after time we saw them run through us to be desperately defended or ball after all be crossed in. Its odd that a poor cross actually ended up as a goal form that very side.
