Damn it, deserved to win that. Chelsea have jammed one there. Any criticism of Mignolet for the goal is unwarranted, he's actually had a very good game
A forward player that can offer a threat? They weren't worried about a single player bar Salah. We defended too deep, invited pressure and ****ed it up again. Even if we don't have the defensive minded players to bring on, sometimes fresh legs going forward gives the opposition a worry when they come forward.
We would all have taken a draw before the match after we saw that teamsheet and were undone by a fluke. I thought Moreno did very well considering the mid week shenanigans and Gomez was solid too. Klavan was shakey but we didn't win because we had a no-end-product midfield today, that was the problem for me.
Thought Moreno played OK considering the pressure on him. Gomez made a few important interceptions but also got caught out a few times. Klopp as usual waited to long to make changes. Should have brought Firminho on for Sturridge and Mane for Ox at about 70 mins
weird game , would have taken the draw at KO now pissed off we didn't win even if we didn't play particularly well. Not sure the goal was Migs fault but more to the point how did any Chelsea player get that much room/time that late in the game . Salah looked pretty much our only threat
According to the Daily Fail Chelsea's goal was "an audacious lob", not an intended cross that was sliced a bit.
Pissed off but not because of the performance, thought the general gameplay was decent and but for a freak goal we'd have done them 1-0 Nothing wrong with the approach IMO, if we had slung lallana and mane on straight away at 1-0 and drew everyone would be asking why we were so gung ho - just unlucky today, that's all
I've got to say Klopp got it tactically wrong. Mane should have come on on the hour. Why rest one of your main attacking threats against the champions at home. Mane would havebeen chomping at the bits to play. He could have given something for Chelsea to worry about in the second half instead them swarming all over us and waiting for the counteract from Salah. Instead of 1-1 could/should have been 2-0, 3-1
Klopp's losing the plot. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: "I think I need a little bit of time to be happy. I'm happy about the performance, how we took the game. It's a little bit more difficult when Chelsea played with eight defenders more or less. "After a week like this (long trips away in the Champions League) we have both had, it was one of the better draws I've seen in my life. "You need a bit of luck and we didn't have it again. We wanted to change the system before the equaliser and the referee didn't allow us/ "We wanted to go to five at the back, to change the situation and it's not too cool to have conceded. "Of course, if you're at home 1-0 up, you want the three points, that's my problem at the moment. "It was a really good game and at the end, it's one point against Cheslea. There will be a moment tonight when I think the result is OK - but not now." That result will never be "ok" mate, a combination of you and your goalkeeper were responsible.
Nothing wrong with those comments at all, very measured and I think you know what he means, you'll look back on it and say a draw with the champions ain't exactly a shambles is it, the way the 3 points were nicked is definitely frustrating though
