I would have liked to have seen Rosenior as captain, he was arguably our best player last season and has been good this season, plus he made some sensible comments following the Palace game. As it is highly unlikely that Nigel would change this decision now, it would be good if the club helped groom Hobbs into captain material. Was Hobbs captain of Leicester, or any of his previous teams? Do we have a vice captain?
I'd like to see Rosie as captain. As far as I know, the only team Hobbs has ever captained before, is Liverpool reserves.
I'd agree that Rosie would make a better captain. His interview after the game suggested to me some degree of maturity beyond his years. It might turn out to be the case (fingers crossed) that the captaincy is eventually used as an excuse for 'affecting' Hobb's game! I don't think Nigel will change it unless he's really forced to.
I agree with Rosenior. Senior player in the starting 11. Consistently good performances. He always interviews very well, comes across very level headed, make his nan proud too!
I agree and thought this when I read his interview after the Palace game. What I found odd is surely Hobbs as captain is the voice of the players so why is he not out doing interviews after the game.
I would have Mckenna as my captain, experienced, always seems to be talking to his team mates and I feel that centre midfield is the right position for a captain.
it does not matter. anyone can toss a coin. there is nobody at the club who comes close to being an Ian Ashbee (pre-Bullard Ashbee) I mean here.
So are you saying I'm wrong and that our most experienced player who starts, is a centre midfielder, and organises the team should not be our captain?
People put far, far too much emphasis on who is captain. Just because, say Hobbs has the armband, do you honestly think this effects the way Rosie and Mckenna try to lead by example and encourage others? Because it doesnt.
NP reminds me of Capello in the way that he doesn't see what real importance the capatain's armband possesss. I think Chester would make a great captain in a couple of years time, but at the minute I think he's too inexperienced to lead the team out. My choice would probably still be Hobbs.
I'd go with Rosenior or Mckenna as things stand. At 22 i think it's too much responsibility for Jack Hobbs to be captain, ideally we need someone older and more experienced. Hopefully one of NPs priorities over the next week will be to look at the midfield or even a defender who can try and lead the team, very much like Ashbee and even Gerrard last season. It was obvious on Saturday and at Leeds that the team needed someone to gve them a bit of direction and keep the younger players focused and get a hold on the game.
apart from tossing a coin, should we need a captain. i think alot of the comments Rosenior made about on-pitch hand wavers, etc were spot on.
