With Romeu definitely out, and Lemina and Davis potentially out, will MP2 be even more cautious about attacking in numbers, or will he decide to be more gung-ho and really go for it? Can’t imagine the latter being his choice.
As others have said, Stephens has experience of playing midfield and I have long wanted to see VVD play as a defensive midfielder, especially given his ability to bring the ball out from deep, drawing opposing players out of their shape.
With Yoshida and Wesley behind them, I think we would be quite strong.

You want us to field a team with 4 CB’s?

Or bring Jack Stephens in - but wait, he hasn`t played for ages, so won`t be match fit. His upwardly mobile career has come to a crashing stop. I`m deserately trying to think of one positive from MP2`s tenure, but I can`t. I can think of a few from Puel`s first few months. I don`t buy this concept that he needs more time and 12 games isn`t enough to understand his squad - surely Eric Black should have provided continuity, and advised him of everything he needs to know. If not, then he shouldn`t be there either.

Untouchable Eric will be in charge before long. He's like a football equivalent to Palpatine.,

Gonna rant - Through injuries, and tactical decisions, players from the academy have basically not had a chance under MP, whilst the main team selections have stagnated. That's something I'm worried about as well. I know an argument against is play your best teams and if you're losing you shouldn't sub a young lad as your final hope, but Liverpool chucked that young lad in, why not give 15 minutes to Slattery or another player in the 23s who has played well. Basically, I would love for Sims and Hesketh to be given chances when fit. I also feel sorry for Stephens and JWP (who has suffered under MP this season). Also Tiggs and McQueen.

Even just involvement with the first team, say a couple of 23s make the bench rather than a couple of old-heads who haven't contributed much when they've come on so far? Perhaps MP is not willing to risk it, perhaps the players he wants to risk aren't fit, perhaps he doesn't think any are good enough yet, perhaps he doesn't even watch them (Koeman). I think the youngsters should always be given a chance of involvement in some way, and it probably brings it out in me more when the senior team are playing so poorly together, and individually are not performing either. I dunno maybe the youngsters are just not good enough yet.

Not sure about that, it's been pretty dead on here for around a year in the main.

Also, isn't it always said a lot of people only post when we're **** so it should be busy right <whistle>

Nah, disagree with that. Even in the summer when footballs ended you get a small amount of traffic, randoms popping in. Now in the build up to games its slow, like the fun has been sucked away.

Got to admit, I'm finding it hard to find things to talk about. Doesn't feel like we're going to get relegated, there are worse teams, and certainly not going to achieve anything. With Pellegrino there's not any changes to talk about. Just safe options every time.

Kinda like the season is already over and i'm just waiting for the new one.

Just watched the press conference, what realy stood out for me was when he said "we keep playing this way and we will win games"! or words to that effect.......
Dead pan! Not so much as a blink! Brilliant.
He seems a nice enough chap, but I have no confidence in him. What also bothers me is that we got rid of Claude and kept Eric Black???

Lurks in the back ground, pulling the strings, bidding his time, the strikes when the opportunity arises.

I agree with him. I can't see him being sacked at the moment....the board don't panic as much as the fans. There are so few points between most of the teams....unless there is a footballing genius out there with a couple of ****-hot players that he can bring in, I can't see that the board would sack another manager this quickly. Expensive and rarely seen to work.

Not since the first one. Palpatine sounds like something you'd rub into a bruise. :)

With two of them playing in midfield, yes, as explained.
Stephens has played the role before and VVD could be immense in that role, given his athleticism, passing ability and he packs a decent shot.
Can’t see JWP and Hojbjerg cutting it, if they are the defensive midfield options.
Rooney would have a field day, dropping off of both of them, into space.
