If all Millwall fans vote - and, to be fair, most CAN manage to scrawl an X - Labour would be trembling in their boots at these candidates picking up over 100 votes each
Actually this is a sad story, and the EU do not come out of it well. And it also illustrates another reason why I didn’t want to vote leave. First, it is European city of culture, not EU - pretty much any city in Europe qualifies, you don’t have to be in the EU. From memory it’s EU members, anyone thinking about joining, EEA members. It was meant to be virtually any city in Europe - cities from Turkey, Iceland and Norway have won in the past The decision is either vindictive - let’s make a point to the stupeed Eeengleeesh- or its a legalistic rule book decision. I suspects it’s a bit of both. Second, they have let the cities carry on bidding for nearly 18 months after the Brexit vote, final bid presentations due before Christmas, and only now they decide this. That is either incompetent or disrespectful to the bidding cities. Both, is my guess. It has even annoyed well known Remain supporters like Hillary Benn. I feared this sort of vindictive tit for tat stuff would start. It will end up with people like me avoiding buying EU products, if I feel they have behaved like twats over Brexit. (Ok my two German cars, bathrooms, kitchen gear, food and drink, won’t feature much in their total trade figures but multiply that out by a few million and it will) And no doubt they’ll do the same and we’ll all lose At this point Chesh says ‘result’
People knew this was a risk https://leeds-list.com/discussion/w...f-culture-bid-if-we-leave-the-european-union/ The rules were set out pretty clearly and the reason it's taken this long to make the final judgement is because it's taken this long for the people who wanted Brexit to tell the EU what Brexit they want. Now they made it pretty clear that the Brexit means the UK will no longer meet the criteria to host the event they have now been told that surprise surprise they can't hold the event. It's not vindictive it's what happens when you leave!
Any countries that don't meet this criteria This new framework, as amended by a recent Decision of the European Parliament and the Council, makes it possible for a city in a candidate country, in a potential candidate for EU membership or in a European Free Trade Association country which is party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. So Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and UK are not going to be an EU member, an EU candidate country or an EFTA country.
Those not in the EU or having an EFTA. We won’t be in the EU and have no plans to have an EFTA. Beat me to it. We were party to decision made by the parliament and council. I can’t even find any evidence of us disagreeing when the eu parliament debated and voted on it. There are no grounds for complaint, as we helped draft the rules.
Sorry I’m going to Remain miffed Because I can I think I’ve been with too many brexiters for too long
