Burton Albion host Sunderland in the Sky Bet Championship Last time out Sunderland lost at Villa and Burton drew with Brentford Sunderland manager Chris Coleman had 10 players unavailable on Tuesday night and will need to make changes to the team after N'Dong has been added to the growing injury list. Duncan Watmore is expected to be out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery. Chris Coleman: "It's a bit doom and gloom at our place at the moment, bottom and with 10 first-team players unavailable. No excuses, we're bottom of the league and sometimes that happens, you have bad news after bad news.” "It's only us who are going to get our of it, by hook or by crook. Overall, they had a go and at 2-0 down they could have melted and they never did. In these moments this is where team spirit comes from. It's only us who can fight the fight, no one is going to come and help us." “Catts was suspended so he’s fine, McNair is on the back of the injury he had so Saturday-Tuesday was just too much for him, but Marc Wilson still won’t be available. Ndong won’t be ready for two to three weeks." “He has a knee issue which we need to get right and we will get it right with the medical team. He didn’t play for Gabon during the international break and had some bad news with his family, but it’s an issue with his knee and it’ll be a few weeks.” Nigel Clough: “Well young man…” "It’s just at home that’s the problem. Away from home I think we’ve defended much better and made far fewer mistakes than we have at the Pirelli. " "That’s something we have to address starting this Saturday. It’s strange how it’s turned around this season. Our away form has been better than the home form, so we are going to have to start getting something at home." Match facts: This is the first-ever meeting between the teams in any competition. Burton Albion are the first team Sunderland have faced for the first time in a league match since they played Colchester United in November 2006, winning 3-1 in a Championship fixture. The Brewers have won just one of their past 10 Championship matches (D3 L6), failing to score in five of those fixtures. This is Sunderland's lowest points tally (11) from the opening 18 matches of a league season since 2005-06 (six), a season that ended in relegation from the Premier League for the Black Cats. Lewis Grabban has netted 43.5% of Sunderland's 23 Championship goals so far this season (10 goals). Sunderland are the only side in the Championship yet to keep a clean sheet this season - this is only the second time in their history that the Black Cats have failed to keep a clean sheet in their first 18 league games of the season, the last time being in 1953-54 Form: Sports Analytics Machine: Away win 39% Prutton predicts: 1-0 Referee: DARREN ENGLAND Assistants: Nick Greenhalgh and Adam Matthews Fourth Official: Peter Gibbons Team Line ups Sunderland: Substitutes: Steele, Beadling, Love, Gooch, Robson, Gibson, Vaughan, Asoro Doubtful: Maja Injured Kone, Watmore, Williams, Jones, Wilson, N'Dong Burton Albion: Bywater, Naylor, McFadzean, Turner, Flanagan, Akins, Lund, Palmer, Murphy, Scannell, Sordell Subs from: Warnock, Allen, Ripley, Varney, Miller, Akpan, Sbarra Injured: Boyce, Brayford Betting Odds: H 19/10 A 7/5 D 11/5 My two pence: Chris Coleman will need to find a system that suits his dwindling squad, it’s early days but we did seem to have a bit more confidence on Tuesday night and managed to have more time in possession than Villa. Taking all the injuries into consideration I’ll be happy with a scrappy draw or a lucky win. I’m going for a 2-3 away win Ha’way the Lads
I am going on Sat, a mate has got me some corporate tickets. I went to Villa on Tuesday, to be honest we were the better side and were a bit unlucky. I think we can win this game but all the players need to turn up. We played some good football at times on Tuesday but there is a distinct lack of confidence.
No idea how you manage to keep up the quality of these @RTB so big shout out. Fancy us to win this one. New manager bounce - 3-1 to the lads.
Download the periscope app - and stream it live for the rest of us Our luck has to change soon - hope the prawn sarnies are good
I feel like Coleman is quietly but firmly putting the club under his control and it's what we need because we've been wandering about aimlessly for too long. I know we can beat Burton because we've been playing alright. Whether we will or not who the duck knows. As others have said I appreciate the quality match threads, it helps.
It's a saying I hate, but this one really is a must win for me. This could be the turning point, it must be, surely?
It must be an old pic. Pretty sure their ground doesn't look like that now. Edit: It's their old ground Eton Park.
Yeah - I did get it from the official Burton Albion FC web site though They have upgraded since then.
Got a feeling we'll win. These are the worst side in the league and have lost 5 home games in a row. Score early and I actually fancy us to give them a pasting. It's in us we just need the confidence kick. 4-2 to the lads.
It's really important not to lose this one so I think we should keep it as tight as possible!! Gone for the draw but praying for a much needed win. Bart
No they not because they above us & have more points. We are the worst side in the league. The table tells you that you ****wit.
Not really how it is. Everton are 16th in the premier league currently but are a better side than that and will finish above that. When we beat Burton we'll go above them
