Liverpool: Will go through as group winners if they beat Spartak Moscow at Anfield in their final game. Will also qualify for the last 16 with a draw.
Sevilla: Will definitely qualify with victory over Maribor and will go through with a draw if Spartak do not beat Liverpool. If Liverpool lose and Sevilla win, the Spanish side will top the group.
Spartak Moscow: Victory at Anfield would take them through but anything less will mean they drop into the Europa League.
Maribor: Will finish bottom of the group having collected two points from their first five games.

 

whats all this maths bollox..... utd embaressed themselves last night. irrespective of any other considerations thier negativity got them what they deserved.

Remember that Basle cannot change their GD as any score against Benfica the last team does not affect the calculations

 

A lot of the pundits and newspapers are hyping the Basle win (cannot blame them as they have to sell their papers). But I think that Mourinho knew the situation well before the match. He is such a cautious man that I doubt he would have made so many changes if he needed a point.

They have never needed a point. All the needed was to lose fewer than 8 goals in 2 defeats at worse. That's some comfortable position! And those who say that our draw was better than their defeat are speaking out of their hats

The LFC game was a key game and we needed something out of it. The mancs was almost meaningless unless they got beaten by a large score.

 

Spartak Moscow beat Sevilla comfortably on their own ground and we drew away with them. We should be able to
beat Spartak Moscow on our own ground.

 

I would love to be going into the final European games with a chance of progressing.

Because every true supporter of Liverpool expects us to beat Spartak Moscow at Anfield. We have the 12 man behind us.

 

I get that. We should be able to beat Spartak at home of course.

What I didn't get was how Spartak beating Sevilla away made that more likely

 

bit harsh Jim in relation to his time at Celtic as for them just qualifying for the group stages is success and even better if they can then qualify for the Europa as it looks like they will.
