As it stands when you cross over into the Republic from Northern Ireland nothing changes apart from the currency (Euro or Sterling) of which businesses on both sides accept as moneys money and all that. After Brexit keep it the same, the only difference being the Republic will still have to have to answer to Brussels and the UK won't, all this knit picking is just desperate measures to keep the UK under EU law, fact of the matter is come 2019 we are out and if the EU can't accept that the UK can be just as awkward as no deal would ever be agreed and the EU would be forced to chuck us out due to us no longer contributing to the corrupt Euro-state.
