Yes, there is no difference between friendlies and a test game against the 2nd best country in the world ( a country with only 1 professional team and a population half the size of Greater London but which as won the RL World Cup, something England have not managed). 82,000 there for a friendly rugby union game. I wonder how many a rugby league one would attract?
The "biggest derby in the universe and everywhere else" has never sold out. It has a capacity of 23,500 due to restrictions because of unreserved seating and the highest attendance was 23,004.
Craven Park actually got a higher attendance than the Bristol game and the Wrexham game involved Wales, where I believe they quite like rugby.
Good news this for the city and even the barren wasteland outside of Hull, ie the East Riding. Loads of visitors, full stadium and TV. How’s that a bad thing?
Who's talking about friendlies? they can't sell out world cup qualifiers never mind friendlies. Haven't the All Blacks won the rugby union world cup too? Oh yes, they've won it more times than any other nation, embarrassing when they have a population half the size of Greater London eh?
Most hotels were sold out for the last game (as they were for many PL games), doesn't help that there aren't many hotel rooms in Hull but you'd be surprised how busy they get on game days.
It is for some people obviously It's another event in Hull which a lot of people will go to and enjoy and will have no effect at all on those who aren't interested
As someone not bothered about trying to make out a sport is bigger than it is not something that bothers me. Though rugby union is New Zealand's national sport and an obsession with them whilst hey only have one rugby league club which has to play in Australia but they have wonnthe RL World Cup something England haven't managed. Dead rubber qualifiers not selling out. Shocking. But still crowds RL could only dream about.
Yes, Wrexham is a hotbed of rugby league with a highly successful team which gets huge crowds. The opening game in Cardiff, where they quite like rugby, involving England and Australia, RL's biggest clash, was half empty.
We know you don't like egg-chasing but do you have to remind us every time something pops up about it.
If the implication is that I'm bothered, I can assure you I'm really not. Rugby league will always have a smaller following than football or ruby union, if you know the history, politics and economics of all three sports then I don't need to explain why that is. People that enjoy something will always try and defend it against those that belittle it, unfortunately these threads appear to be a magnet for people like you that 'couldn't care less about rugby league' but still need to share their thoughts on it with us.
I am reading the decent quotes about people coming to our fine City. The others that seem to wallow in putting other pastimes/sports down I sadly have to endure. Hope that clears things up for you.
Wrexham is just up the road from Widnes and Warrington, which are quite hotbedish. Over 45,000 went to a game in Wales, that didn't involve Wales, I'd say that was quite impressive. The ****ers will have been supporting Australia anyway.
A little odd that City are promoting it... https://www.hullcitytigers.com/news...nal-rugby-league-returns-to-the-kcom-stadium/
Why didn't loads go from England? It is no further from the M62 corridor than London is. Maybe they thought they needed a passport.
