Nice, but it is a 'what are you doing thread' didnt realise it had changed to the politics spill over thread?
Go to Sierra Leone and tell them we're in the ****. It's all relative innit Stan, you wanna pretend we're all in this '**** storm' together then crack on, you either submit and be controlled or you take control. Enjoy your day.
You have to remember Tel that Stan knows all there is to know about the economy and if you don't share his bipolar views you're up **** creek without a paddle.
I agree about the relativity of ****storms and find it quite unsettling going to places like Cape Town where the gap between poor and rich is astonishing and largely overlooked by the privileged. But I also don’t think that everyone should just sit back and watch things unravel. We’re given a vote and a voice for a reason. That’s not submitting, that’s trying to take some kind of control. For example, I’ll never think it’s acceptable for casual racism to creep back into society. That’s something I’ll always call out as I think it’s deplorable. That’s just one example and all this is best left for the Politics thread so those who don’t want to discuss it don’t have to see it.
It's funny how he's one of those who thinks greedy bastards and brexit voters are all at fault and racist, yet he draws his borders at the UK coastline for what he determines a '**** storm' to be. The bigger picture is we're still better off than probably 75% of the global population yet there's 3,000 pages of butthurt to be read across the way. Stan is a good man actually imo, I just don't get along with anybody when discussing politics, it's divisive and brings out the worst in people. Imo. Not sure what casual racism has to do with anything to be honest mate. Perhaps if you guys weren't so patronising you'd get a better response to the 'sensible' parts of the debate over there. As it is, between all of you, you've created a toxic channel to vent your anger and ridicule towards a small group of folk that you've convinced yourself represent an entire demographic.
Anyway Stan's right, this thread isn't the place for it. Hopefully nobody has been offended by my take on that thread, it wasn't my intention... I love you all very much. Group Hug.
It’s mindless. Being prejudiced against someone just because their skin is a different colour than yours. You might as well not like somebody because their hair or eye colour is different.
No, there is debate, and some good debate. But the thread is constantly disrupted by spamming (Saxton) and insult chucking (Dull)
At no point have I said all Leave voters were racist. Never. I’ve just referenced another country when discussing ****storms so haven’t said it’s just about the U.K. My old man grew up in Africa (hence one poster refers to me as the African and frequently posts that I should go back to that continent) and I lived in the Middle East for a while so I’m not completely UK centric. We also go to SA occasionally as some in-laws live there so I’ve seen their version of a ****storm close up and it’s terrible. Casual racism is a huge problem in society as it is a catalyst for division and hate. The Daily Mail preaches it in every headline when they feel the need to unnecessarily mention someone’s religion or nationality. “Romanian truck driver jailed for drink driving”. “Truck driver jailed for drink driving”. Why not tag the second one as British?
