Perhaps the reason is because he thinks they’re sh*t? Today’s midfield did ok against howson( who plenty thought we should spunk 4-5 million on this summer) and co. I’m not a fan of Phillips but he did well today
Without regular game time, at least 2 matches back to back, how can we see if they're crap or not. Phillips goes missing, when he plays the opposition have more midfield space than they should've had. Granted he flicked the header onto Pablo who scored, but he's not really into game for most games he plays...
Berardi was equally stupid after about ten minutes. A penalty then would have meant a totally different game

LL... You’re right they need game time for US to see if they’re crap. Tc sees them everyday in training... hence why I said maybe HE thinks they’re crap so it’s perhaps not really a mystery. Agree generally re Phillips but thought he did well today, put in a defensive shift and linked play.

Not at all. Just pointing out Ayling wasn’t only one doing something daft in the box. That kind of stupid indiscipline needs stamping out. In the modern game, you can’t put your arms around the opposition and swing them around in the box. How unjust would a draw have been today
Yeh, he gave the ref an opportunity to give a pen but I thought assombalonga tried to old man the ref by pulling berardi on top of him. They could have given penalties at every corner in this game... it’s shambolic.
But you seem to have missed what their defender had done on I think Alioski before that........ The refs aren't going by the rule book. If you pull a shirt in the area its a peno. But some Refs give it some don't. We hit the post, if IF we'd scored, game over.
