It makes me a little bit sad that in this PC world we live in today that this harmless bit of comedy, this but of fun probably wouldn’t be able to be made without causing outrage amongst some.

    Quite simply beautiful :)

The brilliant Pete Postlethwaite - a great actor. Watch right to the end for a bit of Yorkshire wit :)

He’s added a new verse for the Not606 horse racing forum:

    „The bloody grade 1s are bloody ****
    Bloody handicappers not fit
    Bloody fields too bloody small
Bloody racing no fun at all

    Bloody bookies shut me down
Banned from every bloody shop in town
Can’t get a bloody quid each way
Got bloody nothing more to say“

One of my favourite films. So very true where they did the marches and got ratted. I have done that particular contest a few times :)
Also was in the stage production of Brassed Off when it came to East Anglia.

As they say in the film, "I don't know what it is, but there is something about the sound of a brass band that gets you."

FFS, Paulie and Chris sure know how to finish a night out. Is it my imagination, or did the director and writer go for the laughs in these scenes? <laugh>

Just a bit of nostalgia from my early days here:

Years ago went to see a Polo match just south of Munich with my wife. Her boss was a very well-known Polo player in Germany and played more than once at Cowdray Park on the South Downs. It was all very posh, champers and delicacies, etc., served in tents. Anyway, what I remember most, apart from the slightly crazy but very funny commentator brought in from Hamburg or somewhere, was the background music they played on the speaker system. It featured the Gipsy Kings, the first time I had ever heard them. Was completely smitten. The following two pieces illustrate the range of their music. The first, their very own version of "Volare" knocked me out first time I listened to it, and in this video I was wowed also by many of the damsels in the audience. Holy mackerel! The second clip, is a quiet, sensitive piece for guitars, "Moorea", beautifully played by the Gipsy Kings:

Bloody hell, think Conan already had two or three litres of Oktoberfest beer before this ever started? <yikes>
