Oh agree absolutely, but, for example, Tadic & Redmond aren;t going to start plundering goals are they?
I dont know, Redmond got 8 last season and we know Tadic can at least get some assists. Might just need a manager to set the team up that's more suited to them.
The Spanish League must be really ****e. There's no other explanation for what Pellegrino did at Alaves.
Just some immediate thoughts having been to the game. Glad we can finally quash the theory that we can be a great side when teams “come at us”. We are absolutely devoid of any imagination beyond Boufal who really did try to create. Redmond and Tadic reaches triumphant new heights of terrible performance levels. I can’t remember us ever being so unimaginative and predictable so consistently. We need a new manager and a total overhaul of the squad. We’re in very real danger of going down if we don’t improve quickly.
I'm not too disappointed with the result. Losing at a field is no biggy. We all expected it. We are firmly in the "let's hope we beat the teams around us" bracket of the league this season. The biggest disappointment is that we haven't even done that.
I’m not going to criticize Saints for sacking Puel, as it sounds like there were some off-the-field issues. But at any rate, the supporters were certainly not thrilled with the style of play. I think that we can watch this team play a lot of bore draws with the occasional frustrating soft goal loss and the odd lucky win. Or we can watch them get tonked like today. The talent is not there. We spent the summer of ‘15 re-signing our existing not-up-to-sniff players instead of looking to improve. We let Pelle go, which was the right move but his hold up play was useful for our style and we did not replace that. Boufal is a bit of a disappointment, but that happens. It’s why you sign more than one guy. Redmond is okay but he was never going to replace Mane. Basically, we have not spent nearly what was required in the transfer market for two seasons now. So not the fault of the managers, or the scouts. It’s either Reed or those above him who hold the purse strings.
Well I’m secretly a little pleased that the morons who booed Claude after the last game last season and then got their wish to have him sacked are now howling for the head of the new manager. I don’t know the answer, but I wish they’d given Claude more of a chance as we might have been more successful in the transfer market. All conjecture I know, but it gives me something to ponder instead of looking aghast at the results .....
Don’t think we’re really making any tactical changes for any game. Just a little tinkering which with our squad players won’t work. We struggle massively to score & we’ve always got someone with a crap play to assist the opposition to score & then we’re ****ed. It’s not as though we’re losing games to the odd goal of the month. Think last couple of games are so indicative of where MP & current squad are. Need the / a manager to play to our strengths & significant investment very soon.
On a brighter note; 2 points off 8th but 3/4 off of 17/18th!! Sounds similar to last year ...... but .......
If MP2 is sacked, I don’t care about the new man having to deal with the hard run of matches coming up. In some ways this is the ideal time to get rid, because the new manager would probably not be expecting to get many points, initially, and he will get a good chance to assess the players’ character, prior to the transfer window opening. I don’t want a new manager signing in January, who then says he wants to see what he’s got before replacing players, with us missing out on potential replacements. What bothers me most, just now, is that today’s defeat doesn’t hurt me the way defeats used to hurt.
We have more attacking options then we did when Koeman first arrived. Yes Mane turned out to be a great player but the only ST we had was Pelle. Both unknown to most fans. This is the same squad that got mid table last season and has been strengtened in midfield and defence since. Pellegrino also has Gabbiadini and Boufal from the start. He's under performed massively.
Its a long time since I've seen a Saints team chasing shadows all afternoon? Hard to see where / how things are going to change. Worrying times?
I agree, the last time I remember seeing this much ineptitude on and off the pitch was after Harry Redknapp arrived and we all know what followed that period of utter tripe.
