I knew nothing about the guy, nothing. But, as I think I've said before, I respect your comments so much that when you were highlighting his defensive nature to us all during the summer, it was concerning me.
If I was Gabbi I'd probably be instructing my agent to find me another club and prepare a transfer request.
I am somewhat dumfounded though that Sam's name is anywhere near this thread. Yes he would do a 'solid' job for us. But we can do so much better than that. A decent manager, and a decent transfer window, is all we need. It's just the board have completely forgotten what either of those two things are. Watford were awful at the back end of last season. But they'd didn't decide to go down the Sam route, with Defoe, Nolan and co.
Strange thing is: in this stretch, maybe we should be playing more like Alaves did. Drop everyone deep, and hope to take away possession in our own end and counter through Gabbiadini and Boufal. Instead, we push forward in the most languid of manners, neither generating attacks nor maintaining any solidity at the back.
