It's the complete lack of any intent. We were basically just out there waiting for Liverpool to sort it out and score. Had a bit of early possession and did absolutely nothing with it beyond a series of passes around the back, followed by punting it to Mignolet.
Nothing changes, tactically or performance wise, from one week to the next. Pellegrino has said this week that he hopes we continue to play like we have been because we have played well. The concerning thing is that he doesn't feel there is an awful lot wrong with this team. Just for the record, Tadic has been garbage for the last year really, but has someone kept his place.
I am more hinting at this is more then a manager problem. Get a new manager in whenever, but this team needs to be changed.
If we can see what's needed from here I doubt a professional coach would take long to suss it himself. Any change now needs a guarantee of £50m or so to spend in January. MP will take us down I fear.
Oh god no. Speak to a new manager tomorrow. Provide him with whatever DVDs he wants. Feed him reports from the scouting department. Just don't put him in place yet. Away to City. Home to Arsenal. Away to Chelsea. Away to Spurs. Home to Man Utd. Mourinho could come in and not do anything of note. Why would we want to give a new manager that fixture list? Spurs aside, we have a nice looking January - why would we want to walk into that, with a new manager having lost four out of five or something?
I agree with that to an extent, but we looked a better team going forward under Puel, even at the end of last season with basically the same players (Jay, who rarely started anyway excluded). We didn't take our chances under Claude, but we were creating them. At the moment, we lack any kind of ambition in our play. Very dull, and when you concede guys, we look a really worrying side.
Let's hope Liverpool don't get out of second gear otherwise they are going to hammer us as we are only really playing with five players, the rest might as well not bother coming out for the second half.
Because we need a manager that's up for a challenge and has some fight in him. I want someone to say "**** yes, let's get it on".
I disagree with that, if they want to do it then do it now so the new guy can assess the squad and maybe pick up the odd point or so... if we wait too long he could come in to an unbelievably demoralised squad.
I think the entire club and the fanbase have to accept that we are likely heading into a relegation battle at present. Can't score and always look like conceding isn't a good mix. Still seems to be a feeling of "we'll be fine" coming from some fans and even inside the club which is a very dangerous position to be in.
Biggest problem with MP for me is that he's failing to get the best out of the players we have. We may be lacking attacking options but so many players are underperforming.
