Obvioulsy some players are going to be rested. I do think we should go with a strong side though as we should try and do as well as we can in this competition.

    I'd go with.

    GK-Harper
RB-Simpson (don't really have any other alternative)
    CB-Willo
    CB-Kadar
LB-Raylor (needs more game time in this position to get more acustomed to it)
    RM-Marveaux
    CM-Vuckic
    CM-Gosling
    LM-Ferguson
    ST-Ba
    ST-Best

Nice and strong and hopefully enough to get a cricket score as its live on sky, don't want another Stevenage humiliation!!

We put a decent team out the last time we played Stevenage but underestimated them somewhat. You can't expect them to lay down and let us walk all over them just because we're a Premier League outfit.

Don't think we need to make wholesale changes, we're only 2 games into the season so the players can hardly complain about fatigue. Think Fergie should play at LB, yes Raylor scored a blinding freekick, doesn't make him a LB though and Marveaux should get a run out LM.

I would rest our Fulham first 11 as the league is more important.

Bodge together a team of Fringe players and of course, make sure Sammy starts!

This side is actually better than the side I suggested. Similar, but slightly better.

This "league more important" garbage has to stop. Winning things is what you play football for not money or european qualification. Ok we dont want to be relegated but we should be looking to avoid that anyway.
Also as i have said elsewhere before, i have seen us relegated before and managed to forget it when we hopefully soon get back up after a good and enjoyable season hopefully WINNING the championship. The memory will remember forever winning a major trophy and have fond memories of a good promotion or better still championship winning season. Alternatively we soon forget a relegation season.
I am 50 now and other than the Fairs Cup win in 69 when i was 7 we have won ZERO major trophies. I want to see us win something before i die and we wont ever do it by pussyfooting around in the cups and "concentrating on the league" especially these days when our chances of actually winning the league appear pretty slim to nonexistant.Bearing in mind also that we havent won it since 1927 (before my dad was even born).
    My team for scunthorpe: Harper
    Raylor Saylor Willo Ferguson
    Obertan Barton (c) Gosling Marveaux
    Ba Best

Subs Krul Simpson Collo Cabaye Shola Lover Guti

I completely agree! We should survive this season, I think we have plenty to finish mid table. However europe is a slim possibility in the league, but it is unrealistic. We should concentrate on the cups, we need to win something!

personally i'd play tiote. he needs a bit more pitch time to sharpen up. i reckon the whole visa thing has left him playing catch up a bit.

Ba has to start as do gosling and vuckic.

I don't think our squad is big enough to play a strong team, we don't have back up at C.B, L.B, R.B or up front so it's not worth risking in my opinion.

Also, gives us a chance to play Harper, Willo, Fergie, Perch, Marv, Abeid, Obertan, Ranger, Best, Lover etc.

err... totally disagree. That's exactly the mentality Birmingham had last year. Disaster.

I think Hughton got his priorities spot on last year. Let's be honest, if we hadn't put out a reserve team against Arsenal last year, there's NO WAY we would have won 5-1.

EDIT .... against Sunderland 4 days later.

Yeah fair enough when you have a game that big, but Fulham play on Thursday night as well, and they have to travel back from Ukraine.

What would you prefer...potentially winning a cup and finishing 14th or finishing 9th and getting knocked out of the cups straight away?

I'll go with this if everyone is fit:

I would be tempted to play Smith instead of Abeid/Vuckic just so we have a bit of experience in the team.
