Yeah, I'm very used to switching off from football going into an international break, but usually I would be over that by now and switched very much back on again. But I'm just so lacking in interest about Saturday. And I can see that continuing for a while yet, sadly.
I have read elsewhere we are hoping he at least makes the bench for the Everton game.....fingers crossed.
Saints currently 9.2 on Betfair (8/1), so I've upped my stake. In the spirit of this thread, I stand to be both broke and depressed by 5.00pm tomorrow
I would hate a 0-0 on the basis that yet again we haven't scored, but honestly....I would be delighted and would take it now. Can't take another defeat, especially by Liverpool, and we need points...even one at a time.
So, Klopp's been given the green light to make a bid for VVD ... certainly not by us. Funny how this sort of thing comes out a day before we play them. ****ing dirty underhand bastards.
All this hysteria on Liverpool fans' side was started by a) this pending match and b) Pellegrino's comments in his press conference. Mauricio obviously didn't want to say for certain that VVD wasn't leaving in January (because he didn't want to look an idiot subsequently), but his vagueness was enough to set tongues wagging. I cannot see it happening in January unless the club could present the fans with a great signing at the same time....and we've heard no rumours about that. The usual 2+2=5.
I don’t actually think we need a Virgil replacement with that money. We need to spend it on attacking options.
Beat me to it. Get a striker in the Pelle mould and a creative, goalscoring midfielder (I know, grow on trees etc.)
Oh, I agree. We don't need another CB...but an attacking player or two that fans have heard of* would sweeten the pill. *Has to be someone we've heard of rather than a player that turns out subsequently to be fantastic because otherwise fans would explode spontaneously.
Thank you! We have a pretty good batch of CBs and desperately need reinforcing the attacking part of the squad
I agree with what Pellegrino says....that we have may have more success against sides with more ambition. We are not good at taking chances (stating the bleeding obvious alert), so we leave ourselves open to the single chance goal that other teams score. The real problem is that we are now desperate for a win...so a not unexpected loss to Liverpool at Anfield will be a blow. We all thought that the 'easy' start to the season would see us sitting pretty when the big teams came a'calling....whereas we might have done better facing some of the big teams early...before despondency set in. Time to gird our loins for a tough period, but not give up hope. Every team has to play every other team twice and I think we are a better side than results suggest.
It does and it doesn't. He's our fourth best centre back. That's the way football goes unfortunately.
