Ha. Yeah we had the choice of watching it at school or at home and as I lived about 3 minutes from my school in lordswood I watched it at home. We must be a similar age.
You boys are making me feel old...!! I watched the game in the pub but we had to buy beer tokens the night before to use during the match as they weren't allowed to take cash over the bar that early in the morning...!!
Maybe there should be a Johnstone's Paint Trophy for international teams. England could win that, then we'd all be happy! #Set your sights low
one might argue that a ranking from playing real games is better than one based on playing experimental teams in friendlies?
Yeah but it largely benefits the south American teams as they play much more qualifiers than others. Which is why the likes of Peru are so high. Also means hosting a tournament can make it extremely difficult to qualify for the next one as you go two years without a competitive game. Interested to see how this new nations league works when it comes in next year.
I could be wrong on this but I think that the Nations League is being used as a secondary Euro qualification, so one of the pot D teams (Luxembourg, Andorra, San Marino etc) will qualify for Euro 2020.
I'm a bit confused by it all tbh. I'm pretty sure 4 qualify from it and the rest of it sets the groups for the rest of qualification. I don't think one of those will qualify automatically though will they? Might give them a better chance but there's also relegation between the two divisions I believe. Like I say I'm a bit baffled by it all at the moment, it will be interesting to see how it works though.
