I said in a previous post the punishment was excessive, but you can't hide from the fact she has broken drug laws in 2 separate countries....the safest thing to do is not obtain drugs illegally in UK then smuggle / take them into a country where it's illegal to have them!

    Quite simple really

Has Boris Johnson announced to parliament yet that she was simply in Egypt as a pharmaceutical salesman?

Bottom line is, yes Egypt seems a bit extreme with some of this, but that's obviously the culture there like it or not. She is obviously a pretty stupid bint who probably had at least some idea what she was doing, but like most stupid people don't appreciate the consequences of their actions, and most likely she can't even spell the word. Also her boyfriend is probably hung like a donkey.

What a load of soppy, sympathetic sods you all are!! Not! So, who hasn't been hit by cupid's arrow and been blinded by love??

No, me neither!! She's most definitely naïve beyond belief, and further. If true what the family say; she's naïve, stayed at home every night watching tv, 33 and never had a boyfriend, a close family, they ought to get a good grip of her. But, I imagine that she didn't tell them what she was planning on taking with her or they would have put a halt to that, so perhaps not that naïve. She's committed a stupid crime in this country and in Egypt and unfortunately for her got caught and is learning the hard way in some Egyptian hell hole.

That said, she is somebody's daughter and sister, and the shock, stress and upset must be unbearable for them.

    Bit pathetic, this thread.

Yes she's done wrong, but the reaction to it is ridiculous.

Yes she did it under Egyptian law, but surely we know that law is extreme and unreliable?

Just as, surely, any right minded person, who enjoys the civilised laws we have, would speak out for clemency. Isn't that all that is happeing , when you remove the bullshit and internet posturing?

Aye, we'll stick her on the ducking stool shall we? Lets get her home first (aye I said home, where we can help rehabilitate one of our own) and then you can all tell her how thick she is. <doh>

For sure at the moment there are more questions than answers, but as in most cases like this the victim will obviously try to paint themselfs white than white.
The Peru two case was similar and they had 11 kilo's of cocaine, only served just over two years and now one of them is living the high life with her new best friend forever another convicted drug smuggler.
Another story in the news is the British woman held in Iran for over 18 months and yet it's only recently hit the headlines. She was on holiday.

To sum up almost everyone who gets locked up abroad pleads innocent and portrays themselfs squeaky clean, the guilty and the innocent alike.
Speaking out for clemency is all well and good but if it turns out they were lying it makes you look a bit daft.

I'll be happy to look daft. I think she is guilty. There's enough black and white for me to get hung up on the grey.

But guilty of what? Murder? Let's keep everything in a reasoned perspective and focus on crime and keep punishment being proportional.

I haven't posted about the others cases you mention, as I have other thoughts on those and it gets too confused if you start to lump them all in one pot.

So someone from 'Ull should get treated differently when the break the law of another country? When in Rome isn't a saying that applies to them presumably.
Let's hope she doesn't get a Saudi Arabian boyfriend who asks her to bring a few bottles of whisky and a bible next time she pops over.

Luckily she didn't have her hair down whilst wearing a short skirt when they caught her with some painkillers
