...the new Paul McShane? Irish international who was excellent for us on loan, but ever since he signed permanently he's been gash. Thoughts please.
I disagree, I think he's an incredibly talented midfielder in this league. Can't comment on Ipswich (wasn't there) but played decent at Leeds. Thought he passed the ball poorly today but is certainly a better option than McKenna in my opnion, who hasn't impressed me at all so far. Give him time and he'll come good - I'd suggest he would perform better in a 2 man central midfield with TC
Speaking of Paul McShane he'd be the first name on my teamsheet when he's back, atleast he won't get bullied out of the game and walked all over like the rest of these wimps.
Lets face it lads no one has shown themselves in a positive light so far this season, no one! NP therfore needs to shoulder the blame for the displays so far... These are his signings, it his team and his strategies and tatics! Lets hope NP has the capacity to IMPROVE, because him and the coaching team need to refocus and SORT IT OUT
Am i the only one who noticed his constant runs into the box in first half? Numerous times he was getting in there we just had no-one willing to play that killer pass. He has the attributes i just think we need to push him a little further up the field, as second half he was being made to play so deep it really isn't his game, i know he can play that role but he is better further up making late runs into the box.
I agree with Double_dragon, we know Mcshane can play well as he proved in his first stint with us. I would be tempted to play him for a couple of games with the captains armband. Yes you heard me right. He might be the balls we need to focus the players. He's captained Ireland so he must have something about him. Whats the worst that can happen, a 4-1 loss to TWS? If it dosnt work drop him but at least we can then say he had a chance before he goes on the bench for the rest of his Tigers career.
He's the complete opposite of McShane. McShane plays well but people convince themselves he's terrible, Evans plays terribly but people convince themselves he's decent. Macca needs to replace Hobbs in defence as soon as he's fit, unfortunately though, I doubt he'll make the bench.
McShane is not the answer. I like Evans, he played poor yesterday but he will become a good player for us I feel. I think he maybe needs a bit of direction on the pitch but we don't really have a player like that at the moment, maybe McKenna. Would like to see him paired with cairney in the centre of a 4-4-2
I am stunned but I have to concede I 100% agree with Percy. I have NEVER understood the criticism Macca gets and Im convinced people do it because everyone else does. Somewhere along the line it became 'popular' to slate him and our sheep-no-nothing-about-football-call-themselves-fans continued it ever since. It makes me sick because the amount of times Ive heard fans say "as long as they give 100% I dont mind" and then in the next breath berate someone like Macca who nobody could ever accuse of giving anything less. On the flipside, I genuinley dont think I have ever seen Evans have anything remotely approaching a decent game. I dont want to see players booed but I just dont see how he isnt regularly criticised,
I'm not so sure about that, he's never a Premier League player and was regularly made to look out of his depth at that level, that's where it comes from. If he'd only ever played for us at a lower level, he probably would have been popular with everyone.
So surely that is the fault of the manager who bought him to play at that level. It's not Maccas fault that he is 'never a Premier League player' but was asked to play there.
It was indeed not his fault, though I never suggested it was, I was just responding to the suggestion people didn't rate him just because it was fashionable to do so.
I think Corry Evans is a great player. His head works too quickly for the other players to know what he is doing. He could improve his passing somewhat but watch some of the runs he makes - if someone found him from time to time then we would have our box to box midfielder
I'd like to clarify that my comparison to McShane was supposed to be between his performances in the Premier League whilst on loan and after signing permanently, compared to Evans' performances in the Championship whilst on loan and after signing permanently. McShane has made some very good performances for us in the Championship, but he is still a liability thanks to his, er, "erratic" playing style. However, I too would give a chance in the first team. Our other defenders' performances this season have been at a similar level to Macca at his worst. Oh, and also, Rosenior has been poor this season as well IMO. Absolutely nothing like the player he was last season.
I completely agree with this. Macca gets so much criticism for not doing much wrong it's unreal yet Evans is ****e and people love him. Macca s a good player for us and the way some fans talk about him on here is unreal. Evans has done, and does **** all. Waste of half a mill imo.
