Aye he was a proper madman, but very good with it, I think he was named in Juve team of the century. I think the difference with the likes of Neville is they know the English game, I’m not overly keen on him either for the record, maybe as a number 2 to someone like Keane. Intrigue and interest, sure. Might be the wrong time for that kind of gamble though.
Grayson has more managerial experience than Phil Neville, Kevin Phillips and Roy Keane. Experience doesn't count for much when your ability to do the job is pants.
Just heard that Uwe Rösler is now amongst the favourites according to some bookies or other. Anyone got any thoughts on him? Despite being sacked at Wigan, Dave Whelan said he thought he was a very good manager.
Michael O’Neil would be a good shout given that NI didn’t qualify. Be interesting to see if he could adapt to league football though and the demands it posesses.
Don't doubt it. He's done quite a good job of running his football club in a rugby league town though. I'd trust his judgment on Rösler. He's done a good job with Northern Ireland but as his league experience is only with Brechin City and Shamrock Rovers, he'd be too much of an experimental choice for my liking.
I'd never trust his Judgment, he's the man who said Steve Bruce was the best manager in the country and to mix casual trainer brands instead of keeping the brands together.
Most expensive at the top cheaper making their way down, mixed brands. That's what he wanted. Spent an entire day setting it up for that **** in that way while he just gave me stick all day long. Next day(When he was of playing Hitler at another branch), I rearranged them back to my way. 4 big brands having their own sections. Price order of course. The man was selling trainers in the 80 with no sense of organisation or display simplicity. Knob head.
I’ve a claim to fame in this area. Whilst working for JD many moons ago, I made the suggestion hat at busy times on a weekend etc we put a member of staff in the store room with a radio to bring the trainers through and stop people walking. It’s on every store on the planet now. I still have all the love for JD and always will ha. They own most of the good trainer stores.
I've always done that mate though JJB wouldn't invest in the walkie talkies, I was getting the requests via a head round the door. Sports soccer did though and hired me to revamp their storeroom and poached me from JJB. I was the storeroom man on the other end of the radio in Eldon Square. I knew every model and size in stock so the customer always knew in an instant if we had their size. Only part of that store that ran like a well oiled machine.
Absolutely vital mate. Once you get that shoe on foot people will buy them, even if they were only browsing. Once it’s on your foot and you like it your buying it, same with good fitting jeans. You can’t resist.
Yep, that's why you need to know your alternatives too, develop an extra sense of knowing a persons tastes just off their one choice we don't have in stock. If you don't have their trainers in stock have an alternative for them to try. Get them a style they like on their foot as quick as possible. Without meticulous organisation you just can't get the shoe on fast enough. Last thing you want is to give a customer thinking time. Play on their compulsive instincts. Everybody wants a nice new pair of kicks, last thing you want is them thinking about bills or rent while staff take an age. Sweep them up in the moment init. Every single shoe in stock laced ready to go too. Sports Soccer loved me.
The thing is no one knows who would be best, we are a nightmare at the moment. I experienced this as a season ticket holder in 05/06, we were truly ****ed. Roy Keane came in, did the best transfer business ever and took us from zero to hero's. As a Sunderland fan, nothing and I mean nothing has given us as fans what that man achieved. He had us safe in season 1 with like, 6 games to go and yet he gets pasted for wasting money. I will say this once, Roy Keane fell in love with Sunderland, he didn't see Quinn his one arch enemy selling out to a ****ing dud. He has my respect always, he gave us the best season ever since the Reid days and consolidated on that by keeping us in the Premiership with ease.. Would love the moody, arrogant **** back..
Couldn’t agree more, hence he’d be my pick in a blink. People say never go back but **** that ****. People go back often in life and often it’s because they know it was better before. I’d be over the moon I think he’s right in every way.
Aye, Keane was on to Short from the off. I don't think he spunked money but he was supported to strengthen, he wouldn't get that this time, not that I think he'd touch the club under Shorts ownership. So non starter just on that, Don't think he'd come, don't think Short would have him back and I certainly don't think he'd get the money he needs, but then, I don't think anybody will get that money.
