Pedigree being Semis/Finals serious challengers. You can't tell me that you seriously thought Inter had a chance all them years ago. If you did think that then it's because Jose was there, not beause of the team they had. They weren't like the Reals, the United, the Chelseas (back then), the Barcas and the United.

They were on the same standing as Arsenal of today at most. If arsenal won the CL nowadays that would be a shock as no one would give them a chance (except TY)

 

So which manager has made there way up (especially if you don't count Jose at Porto)?

Apart from Sir Alex not sure there are too many who have won things without being at a big club (and by won things, i'm assuming we mean the big trophies like the league/CL and i'd give you europy)

 

Porto haven't finished lower than 3rd in their league since 1977. They've done doubles, triples and quadruples all without Mourinho. That's not called starting from the bottom.

 

course they are. Seriously though they are not cos wenger has total control compared to mancini as head coach. wenger has ****ed arsenal over by staying and staying. once ozil and sanchez goes.. well.. quality is lacking.

let me be clear. they have not got out of last 16 except once... so are you saying the current english league leaders simply cannot do anything... until of course they appoint mourinho?

or how about bayern? been ****e last few seasons... they are just no hopers?

Lets be clear about inter though... if you actually recall the games they lost games by the odd goal or by just being naive. They got a clear run at italian league due to juve issue and ac falling off an age cliff so they could focus on the CL. They also benefited from barca throwing zlatan away to please messi.


Its quite clear moruinho walked into a team assembled by the inter hierarchy that was able to scoop up the Italian domestic competitions without even a sweat and could focus on the CL totally.

they had an interesting run to the final TBH. cheslea, cska, barca then bayern in final.

You cannot underestimate how having an noncompetitive league at home can aid you in europe greatly. In fact its one of the main reasons why gaurdiola is said to have failed at bayern. The league is a given.



in many ways the falling out mourinho engineered with the italian press and moratti which started quite early was so spectacular that Rafa benetiz was a nut job to try take the job on. It is testiment to how bad a job he did after that rafa managed somehow to let ac milan win the title in 2010/11 and if you look after that juventus have won it since and inter milan have utter imploded

not only does inter milan conclusively prove in real facts the dominant position mourinho walked into but also proves the ****ing poison he is to clubs as he engineered his move to real he damaged them so badly they have done nothing since.



In fact one might say inter milan is the perfect example of what mourinho can do to a club.

cheslea were damned lucky after that 10th place that they had fake oil money and lots of players to sell to finance conte and recover. IF you'd appointed rafa you'd have been relegated

Why did it all fall apart at Inter when Rafa came in?

I mean making my up/using Jose as an excuse for Inter failure is crazy. Look how Chelsea recovered from his poison

 

To be fair i had in my head of recent times as we know football back then and now are totally different ball games. Basically if i just name anyone who won it in the 50s - 90s you could probably say they did it with no mone + Saf

Champions league.

 

In both of the two previous seasons before he took over they won their domestic cup and got to QF of the CL and EL respectively. In both of the two seasons previous to that they won the league plus another trophy. They've won 17 trophies including the EL since he left.

 

There was no Champions League in Shankly's day - he won the equivalent top Euro cup of the day though, the UEFA Cup.

 

But no win? They did an Inter it seems and set it up for him to come in and win back to back European trophies

 

Thought champions league was the europea.n cup? Thought the uefa cup was the europey?

 

Being selective with parameters to support one's case doesn't make for a very convincing argument.
