So it was an amazing day yesterday beating the scum 1-0 away from home :D and now its sort of calmed down i thought i'd take the time to ask a question.

Now we have played two games and have looked super solid in defence and gotten off to a great start to the season even if we are not playing great and just grinding out results, which may not be a bad habbit to have in a long 38 game season. Anyway, in your honest opinions do you believe if we sign a decent left back e.g. Pieters and a decent striker e.g. Maiga do you think we could maybe challenge for a european place? and i know its very very early in the season to be talking about what will happen at the end of the season because so much can happen between now and then, but theoretically if we keep all the current squad and strengthen the weak areas, what do you think will really happen?

My opinion is that its a slim possibilty as Liverpool and Tottenham and last years top 4 will obviously take the top 6 spots and then we have to hope them lot win both domestic cups and we finish 7th which is a tough task in iteself, but out of the other squads in the league to be fair we dont look so bad, but outside of Man U we scored the most goals at home last season and our away record was one of the best too, so if we continue that and start to get better results at home instead of the odd 5-0 and 6-0 maybe we will have a chance. And looking at our next 5 games its not so silly to say we may go undefeated and pick up at least 3 wins. However i would to see us really have a go at both cups to try get continental qualification that way as it seems all the teams are starting to slip up and become weaker as we are steadily building a tidy squad.

Sorry for the pure article was just trying to get all my points across aha.

    Pure? :undecided:

Swap Pieters for Cissokho and Maiga for Sturridge and maybe. Top six look a different class, but the way Arsenal are going they could end up midtable. I see no reason why we can't be in contention to be best of the rest if we spend in the next ten days. It's then a case of having a good season and hoping the European places go down far enough. We need players though; Cissokho and Sturridge (or similar) and we'll be top half. Pieters and Maiga mid-table. No one and Barton going out (linked with QPR by the way) and we'll be fighting relegation. Next couple of weeks are pivotal.

No need for the apology sir! Haha i don't think we have a chance of europe but top 10 is defo a realistic target of we get a striker and left back in at least.

TBH i've not seen much of Pieters but to be Hollands first choice left back he must be doing some good, and never seen much of Maiga but looks better than what we currently have. If you look at last season it seems we relish the big games, took 4 points off arsenal, drew twice with chelsea and beat them in the cup, took a decent 0-0 of Man U despite being beat 3-0 at the start of the season, drew with Tottenham only by a late, late, late goal by aaron lennon and not forgetting beating liverpool 3-1. And i agree with Arsenal being in trouble, there team looks average now except for RVP and Nasri if he stays, which is unlikely, maybe Wilshere and Ramsey will take over.

If we get 2-3 more players in by the fulham game then i think we'll be pushing for top 10 or even 8th. Wouldn't mind Sturridge or even Lukaku on loan from chelsea and Pardew watched Pieters play tonight, well that's what skysports news have said.

Sturridge and Cissokho would be unbelievable.

He is fasting for Ramadan so doesn't quite have the Tiote 'bite' that we're all used to (no pun intended)

He'll be back collecting yellows after 30th August..

Yeah, from what I read before Cabaye signed he isn't afraid of getting stuck in. So long as Tiote and Cabaye aren't suspended at the same time we should be okay with Gosling to come in and fill the gap.

Super Cheik collects bookings like Big Ron dishes out racist slurs, frequently and often without regret
