Roy Keane says people need to "lighten up" after he received criticism for saying that he would not watch Liverpool even if they played in his back garden.

The Republic of Ireland assistant boss made the comment while working as a media pundit after Liverpool's Champions League win over Maribor last week.

So he's saying it was just a joke.
The trouble is if you say things drily people often believe you're serious. That's got me into lumber plenty of times.
The problem for Keane is he stole Shankly's phrase and used it against Liverpool, and we all know there was genuine venom in there.
Shankly's droppings had more wit than Keane, so when Bill said it you knew he was just wumming. (Even though wumming hadn't even been invented yet)
