Orrrr. He gets a team that can score goals, organises the defence and tightens us up and we win games by 1 instead of losing by 1. Mind blowing I know

Maybe so, but he's not a magician. We've still got a poor defence and defending a 1 goal lead, which is what he likes to do, is no good with a defence as bad as ours. You have to play to your strengths and our strength is our attacking players. Karanka isn't known for playing attacking football so he isn't likely to play to our strengths, is he?

Paul Cook. He has a reputation for building team spirit, getting the best out of his players, and for being popular with the fans because of his approachableness. Precisely what we need.

The difference is when Boro were in the Championship they had Ayala, Ben Gibson and Friend playing in defence.
Hes still going to have the same problem as Grayson if he comes here trying to find a decent Cb to pick.

Never managed at this level, never got a team promoted out of the championship. He's pretty much a Grayson clone. Nice guy that will get the piss took out of him by Oshea and co

Has never had a strop and walked out on his players, doesn't play negative defensive football, isn't a one trick pony. Basically the opposite of Karanka.

Plus, you seem to forget that your hero Karanka had never managed at this level and had never got a team promoted from the Championship when he took over at Boro. It's not a prerequisite for success.

Hows Cook not a 1 trick pony? Facts? His best accomplishment is in League 2. Its just fanciful because no one has any strong feelings or real knowledge of him.

"He might be ok" cos he seems like a nice fella.

A nice fella is the last thing we need.

Karanka got results with what he had and is PROVEN at this level.

Cook and Hurst are mere novice pretenders in comparison. Paul Lambert even ****s all over them with his cv

I'll just leave that here for those who seem to think that the majority of our fans don't want Karanka

Aye, cause organising and tightening up is easy isn't it. Why didn't our last 9 managers think of that? Going defence heavy isn't the answer imo, our players have proved they can't hold their nerve. We need to take pressure off the defense not give them the responsibility of keeping us up. Giving the defence the responsibility is all Karanka has ever done. God help us if he comes imo.

I agree with that bit. Don't especially want Karanka but we do need someone with backbone. I've already said who I'd pick.

You seem to forget Karanka has only had one job and the football was an abomination. Cook has way more games under his belt, improved at least 4 of his 6 clubs most of them skint and turned them into good teams. Earning his stripes properly, working his way up and doing it impressively and assuredly.

The limit of their teams aren't restricted to 11 men behind the ball afraid to pass it forwards.

Cook's not a one trick pony because he's done it a several clubs and because, according to the Chesterfield supporters that I know, he hasn't just got the one approach to the game.
I don't know where you get this idea that he's a 'nice guy' from. His reputation from Chesterfield is as a strong character who's not afraid to ruffle feathers wherever he goes.
Cook has PROVEN that he can get results at whatever level he's worked at.
Previous success isn't all its cracked up to be. Steve McLaren has won the League Cup and a league title in Holland. Would you have him?
I'm sure the majority do he think he's a good choice but that's because the majority don't apply critical thought. Their main criteria is a name that they've heard of, not what would actually be a good fit.
