Low paid - so unskilled immigrants would fall into that category

    So again
    • A study from 2012 which analysed data from 1975-2005 concluded that the main impact of increased immigration is on the wages of immigrants already in the UK. They find that university-educated immigrants are particularly impacted by migration, but that there is little effect on the wage of the UK-born.

That sounds like the comment of an expert and far too evidence based

    It will therefore be ignored

The so called" experts" have got everything wrong in the last few years, and are usually agenda driven, so should be taken with a pinch of salt
some people need reminding its 2017 not 1975 <doh>

Nor is it 1957, much as some would like it to be

The general message the experts gave out in favour of Remain seems to be unfolding pretty accurately, overall. It’s true there were some stupidly extreme things said which were wrong but a lot of that is an error in timing rather than ultimate result

So basically, we are fully stocked with migrant workers and don't need any more - the point I was making all along - thanks for the clarity !!

Confused now; did you/your parents emigrate to New Zealand originally or emigrate from New Zealand to the UK?

What do they call little effect 50p an hour £1 an hour, might not be a lot to some guy that does the reports, but would be massive to the low paid.

I imagine Labour's proposal for a £10 minimum wage would have a greater effect for the low paid.

Actually put like that you're right and the current system of allowing employers to pay low wages and then subsiding their profits through having the government give the low paid benefits, tax credits, housing benefits seems like a much better idea
