Interesting - I don’t know enough about most of the players, taking the conclusion on each in the article, Orta did a pretty good job - if it’s accurate, I have no idea
Another interesting article by another journo from same paper http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/inside-story-victor-orta-how-13090744
Main thing that stands out for me is that he can't spot a a goalkeeper except for Victor Valdes and Stevie Wonder could have scouted him
I think the main issue with Karanka's walkout was an issue with player power, mostly Downing. Interestingly the first one dumped when Monk arrived (if I remembered the reports correctly).
Yes - negative about him behind the scene within the structure - but the player selection review article is more positive about the talent brought in.
Everyone goes on like every player a 'manager' brings in is always a resounding success. Think we've done a thread Leeds worst players and all of them would have been brought in by 'old fashioned managers'. Moancock and even Monk just took players from their ex-clubs. Likewise sometimes players thrive elsewhere, think Piquet not wanted at the scum and did ok at Barcelona. Boro let Boatang go who did more than alright at Bayern and currently Spurs flop Paulihno is playing at Barca, eight points clear at the top. Do we really need to adopt some patience before driving players out of the club?
You have become institutionalized and have grown to accept mediocrity. Patience got us nowhere. In the absence of any evidence of improvement always follow the money...
