Better not do! This thread is fine right now and doesn’t need closing due to being tainted with party politics!
Agreed. As for politcal beliefs being different, maybe so - mine essentially boil down to a belief in social justice. As you say: "...it should be about doing what's right and not doing what you feel like"
One law for the establishment types. One for the rest...You get caught fiddling your tax, you are done...They get caught fiddling their tax, they say they didn't know anything about it and hire a smart arse tax lawyer to get them off. Though none of this appears to be illegal!!! If that's the case why the bollox.
During the miners strike when they were all skint, the one thing that went up was the rake in from pub bandits.
So Lewis Hamilton buys a jet for £16m then gets £3m VAT back....Whats up? Ain't economy no longer good enough.? Does for me everytime...
Yes it is spot on, bit why should everyone earn the same? Why shouldn't the person at the top earn more? What's the incentive to work your arse off to get to the top, invest in a company, start up and grow a company etc if your only going to earn the same as anyone else?
We all know the top bosses cream off far more in excess then what their efforts deserve. My last MD has ignored every possible rule over the last 10 years I worked for him. The auditors picked up on loads of stuff but then decided to ignore it because they did not want to lose his business. Corrupt as ****.
Because they wouldn't earn the same as anyone else? You don't have to avoid tax to earn more than other people. I am now paying a lot of tax but after tax I am still earning a lot more than others. That's my incentive to keep working hard to earn more money. I have no need to dodge tax as its completely unnecessary as I take home more than enough for my needs.
As many have already said my post that over18 said was spot on did not suggest in any way that everyone should earn the same.
Key point there is more than enough for my needs. What needs must you have when you're buying a private airplane for 16 million and you need to find a way not to pay the 3 million VAT on it. Times must be hard.
Not intending to be patronising Howard but I suspect you have led a very sheltered life? You haven't considered disabilities, ill health, mental health, values, family values, education, etc etc etc etc? To start with many people have very different views as to your version of 'bettering themselves'
Sad to say, but some people value everything in purely monetary or material terms. Must be a wretched way to live and see life.
Who's Howard? and nope not lived a sheltered life at all, I've been at the bottom flat out broke with no direction or future, I've worked absolutely horrible double shift min wage jobs just to make sure I don't have to sign on and I've worked my way up from the bottom to director level in my current role, I've seen all walks of life and all kinds of different circumstances....my view is still the same, anyone can better their life of they want and choose to
