Jak said it too. Huddlestone played fine in the championship. People were always quick to criticise him and totally forget his decent games. I don’t think a Elmo/Dawson/Davies/Tymon defence would leak as many goals as the Aina/Dawson/Hector/Kingsley one has. The latter is the more expensive of the two too.
Jak was different. We had 3 senior keepers, it was pretty obvious one was going. Huddlestone was nowhere near good enough in the championship for what he was on.
it was an awful deal then and even more so today - it was all part of Brucie cleansing the club of everyone he didn't sign - Cooper was another one
I'm not a fan of Bruce's youth approach. It's pretty much non existent. If we wouldn't have qualified for the Europa League, we probably wouldn't have signed Robertson or Maguire. We probably should have loaned Tom out for the season and seen how he got on. But fans rarely complain when a team is successful and he'd just got us promoted.
I completely forgot about that! It was one of those where he took that first season to settle at Blackburn and then really kicked on in his second. It was what it was, suppose he'll always be the one that got away.
He may have always been the most likely sold but he still said he’d have stayed had contract talks opened sooner. I disagree with the second comment. He was on reduced wages due to the relegation. Still one of the higher earners in the squad no doubt but not massive.
He has flashes of brilliance but often goes missing for large parts of games - especially if the team aren’t playing so well.
Look we're in the championship we're never going to have Marshall, McGregor & Jak on our books. It's lunacy. One had to go and he was the only one we got offers for as far as I know Tom would still have been on 30k a week in the Championship. No thank you very much
It became popular to criticise Huddlestone but he never let us down. Stewart, who as someone else pointed out cost us loads more, doesn't look half the player based on what we've seen so far.
