When we do it we fry up some onions until brown, add a mixture of fresh ground spices (simply labelled rice spice but it has loads of different spices) garlic ginger, salt and then add the meat or chick peas or garden peas, Cook those for a while (depends what you use so chicken wings are quicker than lamb chunks) then add the basmati and fry it up a bit, add water and boil, then cover pot with foil or a cloth and add lid sonits tight fitting then cook on a low heat or even better stick in the oven

We do add whole fresh green chilli and bay leaves/curry leaves etc

I want some now too <laugh>

My next door neighbours are an Afghani family. When tbh make a similar dish they fry sultanas and julienned carrots in butter and add to the top, think they adds sugar too

Didn't think I would like it with the sweetness on tip but its tasty. They call it kabuli rice

I will have to try with meat and lentils (although the mrs isn't a fan of those). The onions too. I imagine that makes a big difference. I suspect the rice spices used may be similar to what we add individually. (Ginger and garlic are definitely amongst what we add too). Our favourite Indian restaurant gave us our recipe when we left town. (We went there all the time, they knew us by name... Long story but that restaurant is the reason I'm married).

    Yeah we have it too.

Made with cow or sheep "feet". I say " feet" because the hooves are removed and you have a bit of the shin too

    Google paya.

Key is to put them on a naked flame before cooking to get rid of any fine hair.

Then cook like a curry rather than soup.

Can be ver tasty and a heat comfort food. Not good for cholestral

My late Aunt (not actually a relative but still call Aunt) once made a pie. She cut up the meat whilst wearing rubber gloves (I don't recall why she was wearing rubber gloves).

She didn't notice that the tip of one of the rubber gloves was missing until after pie was in oven. This was a pie for company coming over. She didn't want someone to get her fingertip from her glove in their portion so she made another pie and ate the first one herself.

She never found the tip from the glove in the pie which means either:

    A) she swallowed it without realising.
    B) the glove melted and mixed with the other ingredients.

Either way, the tip of her glove ended up in her belly.

Have you ever eaten something and discovered that part of the ingredients is something you hate and you wanted to throw out and it stayed put?.
My friend a Muslim ate in our place after eating, some of his friends trying to wind him that there was pig in the menu. He wanted to throw out but nothing came out.It was later that they told him that they lied.

In highschool dated a German exchange student. She baked me a chocolate cake for my birthday (and took it to school where we ate it).

She told me after eating it that it had marijuana in it. She was either lying, or didn't put enough in because I didn't feel a thing.

Which is not what she said when we had sex before anyone suggests that.
