People often look to blame 'dossers' or those on benefits. How often have you heard 'She spends all her benefits on booze and an iphone' or some **** like that.

News Flash: That is good for the economy.

People like this spend ****ing fortunes. Have you seen it when a massive shop sale is on? It's all people who don't earn that much.

If we paid people on the dole or benefits £5,000 a week, £4,950 a week of it would go back into the economy within 7 days.

More like £495 would go back into the economy, and £4455 would go to a bank in the Bahamas.

pffffft. They'd be £2000.00 gone on buying a jacuzzi within 7 minutes, the rest on crates for the bbq that weekend.

HMG loves it when claimants spend much of their benefits on ciggies and alcohol because a huge chunk goes directly back to the Treasury in taxes.

This thread highlights so many things that are wrong with this country in my eyes.

I earn very good money, and all of my income goes through a limited company. Do I pay tax? Yes an awful lot of it.

I believe in backing business and reducing corporation tax, as they are huge producers of wealth for this country with the amount of investment they provide and the jobs they create.

However, just because they create a lot of jobs and provide a lot of investment why should we accept them using ridiculous schemes to avoid tax. I get why people minimise tax they want to look after themselves. However, what about others? Why have this selfish view?

This country would be so much better off if each and every individual paid their fair share of tax. No the wealthy shouldn't subsidise the poor, but just because you earn a lot of money that doesn't mean you get to decide what tax you should pay.

So many times people don't think of others, and just focus on them and their family. It such a selfish view, and I just wish this world had more people that would look at the bigger picture and think about helping others.

Admittedly I am saying this from a very fortune position, but I don't get how people can think what so many of these people are doing is right.

The rich are creating jobs, but are they worth having? Not long ago was the Panorama ? program about the Amazon drivers. Minimum wage jobs, so if a family man or woman takes the job the wage has to be topped up with more benefits. At the same time Amazon are using loopholes in the system to avoid paying a reasonable amount of tax on their profits.

If all UK taxpayers only paid a smiliar % of tax as these 'avoiders', what sort of state would this country be in?

Even if you're the type who believes in the deserving/undeserving poor, remember: inequality creates a danger for everyone.

A danger not just for you, but for your kids, grandkids etc

I want to live in a prosperous, well educated country that can focus on aethetics as well as medics.

I want chances for everyone's kids, not just mine.

I don't think anyone thinks what these people and companies are doing is right, but it happens. It has always happened, it will always continue to happen. Close one loophole they will just find another, and another, and another.

Some people wish to actively pursue and hound these people and businesses, which could be a dangerous game. Look at Ireland refusing to collect the tax they're owed by amazon and the eu looking at taking the Irish government to court over it. The Irish government is looking at the bigger picture and sees that amazon's European HQ provides more for their country and economy than the tax they're not paying. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and accept you've got it pretty good. At the end of the day business is business, and business isn't about helping people it's about making money and that's why these things are done.

It's not ideal but it is what it is. The less you're bothered about it the happier life you will live. Maybe one day you will be in a position to dip your toes in and enjoy a Ferrari or two on the country.

That's the issue. I don't think politics needs to come into this as from what I can read me and you will believe in very different things politically.

However, it should be about doing what's right and not doing what you feel like. Unfortunately what some people think is 'right' is just greedy and selfishness.

I live in this country and I don't decide what tax I should pay, I take the law and make sure it is applied fairly and I pay tax fairly. I don't try and manipulate it and find any old loophole to avoid.

I just wish people off all political beliefs could work together to produce a society that thinks about everyone, and takes into account everyone's political views, not just the left, but the right and the centre. I know that is far too idealistic, but it frustrates me as it's so logical!
