Off Topic Gross eating

A couple of Gurkhas made us all goat curry when I was in Saudi, they went and bought a live goat and tried driving it back on the base, the Americans wouldn't let them on the base with a live animal so they took it to the side and cut the throat and took turns holding it up to bleed it out, the faces on the Americans was a picture. Curry was lovely.

 

Goat curry is great. As is Goat Tagine, served all across North Africa

 

Protien is overrated if you ask me .... what is protien anyway?

Agreed. I find lamb to be a bit oily and bland. Goat is a bit more ‘gamey’ and has definitely got more flavour.

Spent a fair bit of time in Morocco, Mauritania and Algeria. Goat Tagine is a staple there. Even in the remotest desert town, you’ll still find a dude with a tagine pot and a little coal and wood burner selling goat tagine

 

Salmon is my favourite. No other fish has a better flavour, it's easy to find... And the fact it is one of the fish with the lowest purines is a bug plus for me.

 

I like goat. Never cooked it myself as grocery stores here don't typically stock it, but whenever I've had goat at Indian or middle eastern restaurants it is always full of bones and bits of chopped up bones. I guess it's cooked with bones for added flavour. I frequently pick something other than goat to avoid the bones but I do love the flavour.



Meat I had that I found the grossest was pheasant. Had one that wasn't particularly fresh, think it came in a can with it's juices (I was a kid at the time) tasted extremely gamey. At least to my child tastes it tasted awful (might think different as an adult).

Had rabbit once, a farmer we were friends with used to shoot them. Tasted great but there was all bits of lead from where it got shot still in the meat.

 

Went to a proper Caribbean wedding out in Barbados years ago. They served up this really fiery Goats head stew at the reception. Lovely flavour, but lethally hot!

 

When I was young I couldn't tolerate hot food in my mouth.

Now I'm in my 30's I love to eat ridiculously hot food... My bum hole doesn't like me eating hot food though.

 

REAL TRUE STORY:
I have a friend at work one day he went to Tesco and bought a rice called "Joloff rice" in a container just for a change. After eating it he enjoyed it so
much that every lunch time he would go and buy this rice and eat it. Unfortunately for him for one reason or the other Tesco stopped selling it.

 

Jerk chicken is one of my fav things ever.

 

It was hotter than that mate...

 

I imagine they have really silly hot stuff as Jerk is very hot and that's just an everyday thing.

Really? When I get jerk over here it has never stuck me as very hot. More just medium at most. Unless, just used to spicier foods here...

One of the Jamaican restaurants we go to is run by legit Jamaicans too... We know the family.

 

I've only ever made it myself so perhaps it's the amount I use but anything with scotch bonnet peppers is gonna have a certain heat.
